I learned two things this season.
1. Purple fan leafs on a plant are the same as yellow, not a good thing like everyone thinks.
2. There's way more to flowering time than the trigger, photoperiodism.
I also believe plants can tell the future, it's like they knew this was going to be a hot and dry October.

First point: yeah, purple leaves are just leaves lacking chlorophyll, same as yellow leaves. But prettier. And second: yes, photoperiod is just the most obvious initiator (in most cases) of flowering. Plants grown in tropical regions without a significant photoperiod trigger still manage to do their business just fine although they don't generally grow big showy colas like plants adapted to temperate climates. As for plants knowing what weather is coming down the pike... well, how would they do that?

Is this just comparing tropical sativas to hybrids or indicas? Has anyone ever grown a hybrid outdoors in tropical regions and noticed the same thing?Jesús Malverde wrote:First point: yeah, purple leaves are just leaves lacking chlorophyll, same as yellow leaves. Maple trees will turn their leaves upside down when its about to rain sometimes.I assume its to wash off the stomata but I'm just guessing. As to the mechanism who knows. I dont think it's been studied much since people tend to assume plants have no intelligence whatsoever. I sometimes think that they are actually more evolved having been around longer. Maybe they can detect electric fields like sharks. As for plants knowing what weather is coming down the pike... well, how would they do that?

Outdoor MJ plants will perk up and face the direction the sun is going to come up hours before the sun comes up.

Can I assume that by purple leave = yellow that once they turn purple there isnt much photosynthesis going on and in turn there wont be much growth, especially as far as packing on weight goes?
It would be nice if you explained the things you lernt.

plants waking to follow the sun, thats gravity,
you said your plants knew what the weather was going to be weeks in advance...
how long before this october did your plants seem to know what its weather was going to be...
and what was the tell tale?

I hired this girl to come in and help me trim all my buds. She had real boobs and stuff.
