Bad Soil

It has been awhile since anyone posted here.

Anyway, I bought a bag of crap garden soil--actually, not soil but mostly moss-type stuff. It is very acidic and is really bad for pot. There isn't any "pot soil" brands like Fox Farm available close to me so I bought a 2cu.ft of Miracle Gro. (Didn't start about MG--some of us live in states that don't have mj shops on every corner!) So. my plants were looking like crap. Leaves are dropping everywhere! I am going to up-pot my plants into larger containers using the MG soil. Can I douche the rootballs in a big bucket of rain water to release as much as the crap stuff so the roots get into the MG asap? I did one--the roots like bad in the junk! They MUST get out of that crap! So is washing out the soil and putting the roots into new soil going to work?

they might be in shock for a couple of weeks,
I haven't exactly done the same,
but I've seen many plants eventually recover from near-death experiences!
I'd mix that MG with perlite though.

might work but will shock them.
add a tbs of lime to each gal of the mg.
do they have any black gold where you are ?
is a better cheap soil. anyway good luck.

I added a bag of perlite and a half bag of vermiculite into the MG. It feels very fluffy and lite.

Nothing like Black Gold here.

Coopdog over at TCC says he's done it and his pulled thru OK. Too late to worry now--it is done.

Wish me luck!

damn earl ... you have perlite and vermiculite .... fuck soil

i mean soil has its uses when you are an organic pro, otherwise its the worst growing medium .. just imho ...

i was in the same situation as you, and i did the same as you, just with a simple change: after washing the roots from the shitty soil i transplanted into pure perlite, plants recovered within a few days, not a few weeks like with soil

a hempy bucket works wonders, also a normal pot with normal holes at the bottom will work as well, daily watering when lights go on is enough; even dtw isnt neccessary when once a week you water with plain water

good luck btw , and dont forget to cut clones for any case ;)

Update: They seem to be doing OK. They are mostly "frozen"--not growing but not yellowing. Not wilting so they are accepting clear water.
