tying down plants to increase yield !!

now im not so convinced,
ive seen that method of training a tree out along a wall. the other big reason to do it is because the wall affords a micro climate and you can get a tree that wouldnt do well in your zone to outpreform how it would do in the middle of the yard

tying would get alot more light into some dense outdoor plants

The first few years of training trees is about strengthening the crotches, after you have strong crotches you can do all kinds of different things.

whats the proceedure?
is there some manipulation you do... or is it just a matter of choosing which limbs are allowed to mature based on how they look?
