Spring Gardens 2011 (pics) You're Invited To Join In...

Here's what we've got going from start up to now. I was successful in convincing my family into practically doubling the size of the garden over last year's overall dimensions as you can see in the pics. You can see the remnants of the previous garden in the low numbered pics and then where we've cut sod to increase its overall dimension in the mid-range numbered pics.

Yes, lots of space. But, the garden and melon patch are both in the "flood zone" which was proved out with that last heavy, heavy rain we had....both areas were inundated completely. They both had running water going over them (the seasonal stream overflowed) and the melon patch had at least 10" (25.4 cm) of water over it.

I'm not growing any flowers, no. The only flowers I do grow are our flowers

However, my sister grows flowers. She has roses (three or four different types), impatiens and non-flowering plants (indoor and outdoor)...ivies (one covering a two-story wall--indoors), and ferns (although, the ferns may have met their end this winter--kept indoors for the winter with very little natural light (not where they were normally kept--they tried something different)--still waiting to see if they revive).
