What people meant when they told you to add perlite was to mix it into the soil. You've been given the right advice but you interpreted wrong I think.

Somebody will have to explain the best way to replant those without damaging the roots, I got no idea.

Just that, like they say, water less, and I know you love your soil and don't like hydro stores or something but might think about supplimenting like somebody said.

You could just get some new soil, pull those plants out, and start again bud, if you've been over water for a while you may find some nutrient is locked out due to the over watering.

Perlite contains aluminum so don't use imo.

Good luck with the grow.

So you guys don't think it is fungus or bacteria?

Probably a symptom of overwatering?

Crap. Oh, and the soil has about 40% perlite in it currently, I just put perlite on the top of the soil/perlite mix to reflect even more light! :smoke:

Hey guys, quit dick waving please and help me out. Should I re-pot the plants with new soil? How could nutrients be permanently locked out by overwatering? Or should I dip them in a 5% bleach solution to kill any fungi? I don't know what could be causing this problem!

Well thats good!

Should a re-pot ASAP, or just water less? Could nutrients be permanently locked out?

Personally, I'd go for the "water less", but it really depends on how heavy the soil mix still is.
Poking some ventilation holes deep into the soil might help.
Could nutrients be permanently locked out?
Possibly, but without knowing the appox pH of the soil, it's difficult to tell.

I stand behind what I said about CFLs, I think PGGG may have color temperature and color rendering index confused. The CRI on florescent bulbs is low and the spectral output is limited.
In a bulb with a higher than 100 CRI, the mid color temperature range is much fuller and does provide some useful light for plants.
I have replace my 3500s with 5000s and the growth is noticeably improved.

I have also found that clay pots offer a secondary draining advantage over plastic as the osmosis in the clay allows moisture to escape through the pot surface, and also will pull fresh air into the soil as this occurs.
I'm in a very dry climate right now, and have switched back to plastic to retain moisture in my soil, but I use ceramic during the humid times of the year..
