Bubba Goes to Seed
I got those seeds while I still had the mother and at that time there was no prospect of ever losing it but I thought it would be good to have a back-up in place should the unthinkable happen
Ironic hey....

I've never lost a seed in a paper towel, in 10 years of growing.
As usual, someone is just parroting what they read and took for gospel.
She's come a long way though, last month, she thought germinating seeds was when you put em in a baggie and sneezed on them.
these seeds were popped in a used burger king napkin.
keep your beans dry and cool for longest shelf life.

Here they are at the 1 week mark (to the hour) from dropping the seeds in the cubes. There are about 6 good roots on the bottom. I'll wait until about Sunday for their first (200pppm) feeding. They should use up their stored starch by then, and be in the mood for food.

Pretty aint it.
The seeds are in rockwool cubes, and cubes are placed in a mix of a 35% very sandy soil, 30%composted manure 05-05-05 and 35% of mud taken from a pond edge.
I start my beans in cubes, because you can go to hydro or soil after roots develop a bit.
Im out of peat pots right now, which I would have used, because I knew they were going to be soil.
Occasionally in my hydros, I will start them in a small net pot about 4", and move them outdoors to flower.
This works well, as I plant the entire netpot. Recovery is usually around a week. They have to be handled very gently during this process, but I've had good success. It allows for a faster veg if desired.

Hey Roller !
You're giving those babies some very though love !
Mud/Manure+sand makes a very dense and hard medium for roots to grow through + oxygen will not circulate properly to the roots because medium is too dense + mud and manure keeps too much humidity + you might have algaes growing on the edge of your pots because they're transparent eating up the plant nutes .
All those factors are stressing and slowing the growth of your plants .

The soil is very loose here, about 90 sand, when I said that I used mud, I actually didn't go in the pond for the mud, but dug the soil on the shore line which is not much more than wet earth.
The pond is less than a year old, and the banks were built up with the deep diggins from the middle.
Which was rather rich looking, so I decided to try it out.
The mix seems fairly loose to me and I havent seen any problems with growth rate, but Im always looking to improve. Would you suggest some pea gravel? I tried some sea shells which worked pretty good. I'll work on something for the next potting, which will be when I see roots in the cup sides.
Im tracking them day to day at .net.
Stop on by sometime.
