Well folks the time has come to renew the hosting again and I’m not sure I really want to anymore.

We’ve all had a lot of laughs over the years and all but let’s face facts here for a minute.

As you all know the user base, beyond the handful of you who still post here, is largely nonexistent and the site seems to have lost its focus.

No longer do we attract people and new interesting threads. There’s really no more talk about weed and whatnot (that we’ve not already covered to death) and I know that the political bent has largely turned the site into a cesspit of insults and angst so that leads me to wonder if it’s time that we should just pull the plug?

Bills are coming due again December 4th and I’m really not big on paying to keep the site here if all we’re going to do is talk shit about geopolitical issues so in my mind, we’ve run our course and preserving the site for the sake of nostalgia really doesn’t seem to be worth it anymore.

And that’s really saying something because the costs are actually pretty insignificant at less than $1 a day for the year.

The money isn’t the issue it is mostly the fact that it’s always the same thing day in and day out and the discussion of the mundane banality of evils we face has grown kinda tiresome.

Sometimes I have hope that we may see beyond the bullshit of politics but as time progresses I lose more interest in waiting it out as I really don’t see how that’s going to happen when the people who were the most dedicated to the site have been driven away.

I guess I’m kind of looking for a new direction and wondering if it’s time to close this chapter?

Will I miss it? Yes. Should you keep paying to indulge the handful of us here who post regularly? Probably not.

Whatever your decision smokes, none of us will hold it against you and I think we are all thankful for the time, effort and money you have sunk into this place over the years.

I have to laugh, because old Elon is now trying on a much larger scale what we have been doing for 20+ years now: offering an uncensored, unfilted view of the world. He will probably learn what we've all learned: not many people have thick enough skins to accept unfettered free speech.

Like I’ve said numerous time before, and I am sure I will again I hate the guy but for far different reasons.

As you know so many people have left us, all the people who we once used to consider friends…. On the odd occasion that new users do come and join every so often then quickly disappear, there’s really no reason for people to participate here when there is no shortage of other places to post at where they’d not have to deal with cranky assholes wishing them leukemia.

I have to say I am probably as much at fault for that as anyone else for not putting a stop to it way back then.

I mean I guess I could have just said fuck it and outed ~j but that was never my place.

I’d actually could have been much more sinister by sending his wife a monster horse cock dildo at her job and really fucked his world up as she tried to explain that to her employer’s receptionist.

I mean he really could be a total asshole but I’m betting that he’d have been in a for a bit of uncomfortable confrontation when the big black dong showed up in clear packaging addressed to the missus.

But all that aside, people grow and change is inevitable.

I’m tired of it all and since I have many interests beyond this, I’m inclined to just pull the plug and focus my efforts and energy into my businesses.

Prawn, hard to believe it has been 15 fucking years here, add another decade for Planetganja and Overgrow, plus all the other incarnations including MyGangaGrow and the Sharkstank.

In that time we’ve lost more than we’ve ever gained and sometimes you’ve got to ask if the juice is worth the squeeze?

Has it been? Hard to say.

When this all began, with Proposition 215 in California opening the door to the medical market which we’ve now seen evolve in many democratic states to allow for adult recreational use I’d say we were successful in our efforts to remove the stigmatization of weed smokers as a bunch of mindless stoners.

We’ve been successful here with not needing to be under the thumb of any type of sponsorship or greedy profiteers who demand absolute devotion and control.

Remember the days of paid subforums for bean merchants? We’ve helped a lot of people through some difficult times but all that and $6 might get you a cup of coffee fwiw.

Slays me thou that some places still have the audacity to charge members, or bombard them with advertising or in Elon’s case, both.

And then there is us, it’s all at no charge and we can’t seem to get an audience that values free speech without commercialization.

We live in a time of instant gratification, TikTok and Instagram; people don't have the patience for forums anymore i saw the decline of many forums, even IC MAG its not the same any more people have just moved away from this, The good old days of the early to mid-2000s before even FB,

forums were the only places to chat about cannabis and make friends globally. Some people have just gradually stopped posting on forums just because of getting older and moving on with other concerns and responsibilities.

Now, with the under-30s demographic wanting instant results and having zero patience for anything, it's not surprising this is happening. I have seen this on many other platforms. It's a case of evolve or die.

Now, cannabis has been legalised in many states in the US; people do not need to grow it anymore and just buy it, but back in the day, I think it was still illegal in many states, and people wanted to learn how to grow, you can now even buy weed from Instagram LOL

I noticed that ICMAG has not been on there for ages but its not buzzing like it used to be and i recently noticed they have a discord page and an Instagram page.

I said earlier it's a case of evolve or die.
