Here's some more for ya...because a whole lotta folks feel this way...
...the numbers just don't lie...
Well, looks like this might end up being a list of failures if they're not handled right...
Department of Education - I can see the philosophy of eliminating this, because the states should have more control...after all, they are the ones doing the actual work. I just have a few points of concern...
- What aboot Pell grants?...this is a beneficial program that should not be lost.
- How do we make sure we don't incur imbalances between states?...i.e. Connecticut being home to 80% of the country's corporate HQs (high funding source) vs Mississippi (the poorest state).
- How do we provide for special needs students?...Flint has a 'school for the deaf', most cities don't, and I'm pretty sure it's federally funded.
- How do we provide for any kind of uniform standards?...there needs to be some kind of measure for all.
Department of Veterans Affairs - 15% personnel cut. I am always leery of cutting veteran's benefits.
Privatizing USPS - Flat out, bad idea. The mail service is a backbone institution of this country...and it basically pays for itself. Room for improvement?...sure. But we certainly do not want to hand control of the service to the private sector.
Privatizing Amtrac - We still subsidize Amtrac? Ok, well this one can go.
Oh shit!...looks like we got some 'sanctuary' officials being referred to the DoJ for criminal investigation, which as far as I can tell, they just confessed to in their congressional testimony...
