Renewable energy?....not so renewable.

Post by Butcher Bob »

Renewable energy?....not so renewable. :dunno2:

Why are we such a stupid species?

First we burn wood for energy...then coal...then oil...then natural gas...
...without giving any thought to the pollution, environmental disasters, and destruction of the planet's aquifers.
Then we go nuclear...
...without ever figuring out how to safely dispose of the waste.
We start pushing electric over combustion, to try to right previous wrongs...
...without giving any thought to mining the materials for motors and batteries.
And now we push wind and solar...
...without any plan on how to handle all the waste from disposed equipment...

Over 90% of disposed windmill components and solar panels are going to landfills...

You would think we would understand this shit by now.
We deserve to go extinct...problem is, we're taking everything else with us. :frown:

build a bigger incinerator...

Post by Munchy »

considering the damage caused to the launchpad by SpaceX's biggest rocket recently,
perhaps one or more of those Raptor engines could be used to incinerate this kind of waste into ashes
maybe someone should call Elon Musk... he could call it a B.F.I., the Blasting Company, or WasteX.
smoke dat shit, and then filter the smoke through a giant bong :toker1:
then use the results to spin some power turbines on the way out
and maybe make bricks from the ashes, to rebuild his launchpads with.

“ Over 90% of disposed windmill components and solar panels are going to landfills.”

And what percentage of total landfill waste do they make up, I would guess way less than 1%

Sometimes you got to pick the lesser of two evils.

The volume is going to increase tremendously as the industry grows.
Disposal currently is very small, compared to what it will become.
But I suppose putting the corrective costs upon future generations is fine...
...because we'll all be dead by the time that bill comes due. :nuuh:

The technology is still in its infancy, things will change. Electricity is still in its infancy too if you really think about it and aren’t such a pessimist.

electric motors have far fewer parts than engines that run on fuel
they also last far longer

every part produces an insane amount of waste NOT to mention the water needed in the process
electrification will significantly decrease these sources of waste and toxins

dont forget,
the oil industry is investing INSANE amounts of money into producing propaganda attacking its replacement as it tries to hold onto the public subsidies it has enjoyed for over 100 years

its time to cut them off from subsidy
time to expose the harm theyve done and will continue to do every day they are not shuttered and made to pay for the cleanup of their mess

dont fall for the pro-oil hype
its for shit.

there is a number in the fastfood business
the packaging it takes to wrap and deliver a burger produces 100,000 gallons of waste water in its prduction.

the cost associated for that loss to the environment and the cleanup arent included in the price you pay driving through...

Yeah, we said the same thing aboot nuclear waste, but we aren't any closer than we were on day one...zero progress.

The point I'm making is...
