The latest I've heard is now Zelensky wants to temporarily cede territory to Russia to halt the hot war, and in exchange be accepted to NATO, then pursue returning the territory back through diplomatic channels.
That seems like a good thing to stop the killing, but to me seems like a deal that will be a tough sell to Russia.
I think the best he might do at this point is to cede the SE areas of Crimea and the Donbas (shown in grey on map) and remaining Ukraine to go on as an independent nation. Putin could allow them to become EU members, but I don't think he will allow them as a NATO country under article 5 protection. I originally thought Putin's strategic goal was to maintain control over the sea ports else Russia would lose the benefits of a highly valued trade route through the Black Sea.
I ponder if UKR cedes this area permanently, then Putin may cave on the NATO membership, even though he said that would never occur.
The alternative of keeping UKR whole in my opinion would mean a continuation of the war which is likely to spill out into other parts of Europe if it continues.

Yeltsin was an alcoholic and cosied up to the oligarchs who robbed the country blind, Putin came in and gave some respect back to Russia.

The Atlantic Council has 7 CIA directors on its board, is funded by the Pentagon, the State Dept & CIA cut-outs like the National Endowment for Democracy, and had a formal partnership to kick deal flow to Burisma.

If the Atlantic Council is involved, the US is involved.
The timing of this is interesting with the Trump administration taking power in less than 2 months.
