Stuff to watch on mushrooms...

Stuff to watch on mushrooms...
...aka... Bob's trippin' :toker1:

I think we're all aware of the wonders of tripping in nature...so many visuals to amaze us.
But, the weather is not always conducive...and sometimes we might not feel like tripping outside.
Many times I feel like grabbing a comfy couch, turning off the lights, and finding something stimulating to watch on the TV.
There are many qualities that contribute to an enjoyable experience, but overall what I look for is something surreal.

I'll start with one that lays down a pretty good example of what I'm referring to...
...good music, sharp and high contrast color, stellar cinematography, a storyline that steps outside reality...

Sucker Punch (2011)

Trailer:

Full movie can be found on numerous streaming services.

I kind of use that as a benchmark, both as to how and when it was made.
Generally speaking, older productions don't have the same quality as modern techniques afford.
You can still find older gems, they're just not as frequent.
On a recent trip I was surprised how well this one held up...

The Fifth Element (1997)

Trailer:

Full movie:

While there are certainly more goldies out there, newer ones are more prevalent.
Technical production quality has increased significantly, and the cost has dropped.
You no longer need huge box office success to garner a good surrealistic experience...

The Wave (2019)

Trailer:

Full movie can be found on numerous streaming services.

I remember one time years ago, tripping on some good cid ended up alone at my house. Started out watching the Song Remains the Same and then was really getting into the Wild Kingdom Lions of Africa documentary.
As far as trippy movies lately...Mandy is very trippy...

...on the use of neon and colored lighting...

Usually I'm just looking for something that's visually stimulating...
...I'm not really looking for an intricate, in-depth story line...
...and definitely no sub-titles. Reading is more work than I want to do. :p
Trippy visuals like neon and colored lighting are often enough for me...

Terminal (2018)

Trailer:

Full movie:
http://realitypoint.com/HTML/Terminal%20(2018).html
...or can be found on numerous streaming services.

It helps to have the big names...recognizable faces and all that...
...but outrageous looking sets can have a big effect too...

This Game's Called Murder (2021)

Trailer:

Full movie:
https://tubitv.com/movies/644065/this-g ... start=true
...or can be found on numerous streaming services.

But you don't need big names or special sets to make the neon and colored lighting work.
Really all you need are good cinematic shots and angles, with a touch of creativity...

The Peacemakers (2021)

Trailer:

Full movie:
https://tubitv.com/movies/674261/peacemakers?start=true
...can also be rented on Prime.

Yeah I don't typically try to watch movies or show while tripping. Last time I tripped on shrooms I put on a Doors dvd and I was good to go!

yeh, i have a couple of videos handy, but since they're not movies,
I figured they wouldn't meet your qualifications.

I can tell you one movie NOT to watch on shrooms,
is What Dreams May Come with Robin Williams.
I choose it due to being so colorful, but I was overwhelmed by it's sadness.

The genre consensus is anything but...

...Cartoons...

We can leave the cartoons where they're at...click the word ^^^ to go there...but anything else is game.
Movies...videos...tv shows...as long as they're a good watch on mushrooms.
For instance, for the last few years, there have been some visually trippy TV shows.
For me it started with...

Happy! (2 seasons 2017-2019)

Trailer season 1:

Trailer season 2:

...great cinematography, hilarious writing.
The next one utilizes camera angles, framing of the shots, etc....
...in addition to color and style of the sets...

Legion (3 seasons 2017-2019)

Trailer season 1:

Trailer season 2:

Trailer season 3:

Legion was easy to get hooked into...hard to stop watching.
The latest show I've gotten into, has great visuals and music...
...but plays more on the characters...
...they are 'not normal', each has their oddities...

Russian Doll (2 seasons 2019-present)

Trailer season 1:

Trailer season 2:

I think the new munsters movie fits your
criteria perfectly. Some of the scenes & the way the lights shined through Lily's wardrobe in one scene in particular, was mesmorising.

Indeed, very colorful...:)...

The graphic novel movies...

...they just have that feel to the visuals.
They don't look like live action...
...they look more like a fluid comic book...

Sin City (2005)

Trailer:

Full movie can be found on numerous streaming services.

The original hit it out of the park...a Frank Miller classic.
Even though it's mostly black & white, the color highlights really set things off.
The sequel wasn't quite as good as the first, but still right up there...

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014)

Trailer:

Full movie can be found on numerous streaming services.

Even when done in color, the movie can be done to look more like a moving illustration.
This is one of my favorite movies...tripping or not...
...be sure to watch the 3½ hour director's cut...

Watchmen (2009)

Trailer:

Full movie:

...or can be found on numerous streaming services.

watchmen was heady stuff in the late 80's if you read comic books
never seen the movie before though so thanks for that link

another great one was 'Elektra: Assassin' that epic comics published 86

Frank Miller wrote it and Bill Sienkiewicz illustrated
