what you gonna grow for this season part 2
Just finished building a new trellis. In time for the pole beans, tho might wait another week. It looks like I'll be planting the garden early, normally May 15th to June 15th is the planting date, all depending upon the weather, we've had snow in May before. Same old, i want to get a jump start but don't want to risk losing it all with a freak snow storm.
Still waiting on the yacons to pop..

good old mother nature.. about a inch or so of hail today.
few of the new onions looked beat up. so replaced them.
had 4 artichoke sprouts under heat mat today. took them
out to greenhouse. is those jiffy pucks pretty small. so i made
a layer of perlite and water in a tray for them. get some
decent roots in the ground they will go. planted 10 2 seeds
per. hope others sprout quickly. where they are going i
spread some slug bait around to get a jump on them.

pellets like 1/4". *on bag not for container crops* lol.
spread small amounts to the potatos, garlic, onions and
flower bulbs. then read about ground potatos. lay on the
ground and cover with straw. asked bro to get me a bail.
the ground where is am putting them got some potash and
some bulb ferts to rain in. i figured it could not hurt. got
a bunch of sprouting potatos just need some straw.had 1
more artichoke sprout today. took to greenhouse makes 5
5 more to go. carrots are almost big enough to thin.
then lastly cut some fresh leaf lettuce to go with my dinner.

Y'all are killing it!
I bought a couple of compact tomato plants & a couple of chili plants, just for the patio, which faces south & gets decent direct sun.
Going to add a few autos to the patio, as soon as I get the beans.

There's that potash idea again. I'm definitely going to start mixing a lot more wood stove ash in the compost. hope it can't hurt.

put ashes in a bucket add water let set a few days.
this makes lye. be careful will burn you. pour it off
add more water wait a day or 2 and pour off. then is
ok for the compost pile. can use the lye to clean drains or
make soap.

I'd. never heard of them before but you're limited @ home depot sooz I took a chance. Should be a bit hotter than a habanaro.
Wiki:"The Armageddon chili pepper is the world's first F1[a] 'Super Hot' chili pepper.[2] It is a hybrid of C. chinense and C. frutescens. Armageddon was developed by hot pepper grower and developer, Salvatore Genvoese of the UK. It was introduced to the UK market in 2019. The pepper holds a rating of 1.3 million SHU (Scoville Heating Units). "
~ I wanted a hot one because the other plant is just an early jelepeno.

Oh yeah Ya got to have some hot chilies.
The only hot chili that sprouted this year for me was Italian wax. Not a real hot one but nice and prolific. But yesterday a Peru chili popped up. Jes when I gave up on it. I'm glad because it's the last of my seeds sowed. It's a hotter chili, thick & meaty. I got the seeds from for my friend who brought some back from his mother-in-law's garden in Peru. So I don't know the actual name I just call it Peru. Would hate to lose it, happy to see one it pop up.
