a few things to be clear about.
Imran Khan has managed to split the 'ruling' party in Pakistan. ie the military AND the courts.
when dill says 'civil war' hes refering whatever force each of its sides could muster to either attack the government or rush to an attack that has commenced.

the divide in society doesnt necessarily go any deeper than these factions. that is unless the wedge that Imran Khan has driving taps into older animosities that may have long simmered among pakistans people.
