more a function of a layout which requires less guessing

rSin of course

its a 60's computer game
it was first included in windows game pak in 1990

just a rectangular field divided into squares
and in expert there are 99 mines hidden from view
your goal is to click on every square lacking a mine until only squares with mines remain

thats the win

every square you click lacking a mine reveal a number which tells you how many squares surrounding that square have mines

eventually you start recognizing patterns and can really move fast
often then you are left with several spots where you dont know the correct square to click next and you have to guess

at this point you can figure the odds of a mine being there by paying attention to the numbered squares in the vacinity

thats it.
super simple and infinately engrossing

We got Atari back in 77/78?
Pong, tank, bowling...later acquired a lot of games... Galaga, Missle Command, Asteroids, Pac Man. Friends would come over tripping. We used to have a blast playing.
