Carbon input?
Would wood ash do?

Just brown (carbon) yard waste, even though the leafs had brown in them they would still be considered a green ( nitrogen) input ….it’s all about a balance of green and brown.

compost

Well I'm generating tons of wood ash, and I've been wondering if it's been a good idea to put it in my compost pile, I've been putting a little in, you know cuz its potash.
But I was never sure if I could just dump a whole bunch in there. I think that answers my question, I would need a balance.

How would steer manure work into the balance?

wood ash if you put into a plastic bucket. add water to it
in a day or two the liquid in the bucket is lye. very strong
lye. well pour that off and add more water. pour that off
and should be ok to add the ash to your compost pile.

Steer manure fresh or dried is considered green and would need to be mixed with a brown and heat up and turned a few times to turn into humus.

compost

so compost for a month was like 2" balls.
i have taken a drill powered auger to it.
been spinning composter every night then using the
auger on it. is breaking up nicely now. when it gets
broke up enough to look like soil i will add some worms.

What would be the best mesh size for doing just small amounts via the scrape/shape method? Not the finest size, but the best compromise between quality/quantity?
