As for flowers, or extra branch growth, at nodes...this is normal plant behavior. Anyone that has done lollypopping is quite familiar with the constant need to strip this growth during flower, just as the quote you've posted indicates. This is not limited to cannabis, most plants exhibit it as sucker growth...and yes, it steals resources from the rest of the plant. Many fruit crops need to have this type of growth cut off so that it will not adversely affect yields. And unfortunately, once you start stripping it off, it will continue if the wound is not sealed. Wounded spots on plants, like when we do scarification to promote rooting when cloning, signals the plant to start producing generic cells at the site...which can then easily be converted into flower or stem cells. Remember, the plant is just trying to survive and procreate...it does not give a shit aboot the bag appeal you are trying to achieve.
Thanks for that - makes sense somewhat. What kind of fruit crops?
Recently I've been looking at avocados a bit ~

Also another thing about the wounds and seeing them in flower after lollipopping..
Possibly could be from that. These plants in the pictures here are just growing... No wounds yet.

Just a preference but, I prefer the plants without them - just Calyx or Sacks..
But will keep in mind it's more common than I've seen personally...

No bag appeal for me. Although sometimes it goes hand in hand.
I'm all about the stone.. And not just heavy eyelids :smoke:

Lack of genetic diversity is what caused the Irish potato famine, among other things.
Was reading about the topic this morning

It’s not most plants, it’s dicots that have vascular bundles on the outside and cambium between the xylem and phloem.

...and sealing plant wounds is an outdated practice that stops the cambium from doing its job.

Speaking of Cambium and xylem and phloem layers..
I thought this Rare Steak look was pretty interesting ~

Another thing that's been bothering me is people selecting plants for hollowness.
Not so much bothering me but they just do it without any understanding.

Is there any truth to Hollow Plants even being more potent?
Other than the speculation more woody stems are heavy rudaralis?

The lambsbread I've got here looks like it's aged tree bark toward the base....

I haven't ever sealed a wound but do let them heal up nicely before really transitioning the plants.
A while back when I was trying to graft to Oaxacan to the Faceoff I did try some sealer shit..

Ended up using tape instead. Never got it to work either way...
It's difficult to align the cambium on different variety for me.... They are all unique too.

Thanks for the comments brother man ~

I didn't pay enough attention. Just remember that bit of info from working at a retail nursery in my teens.

Still nodes, so still generic cell production.

True. But sealing does inhibit growth from the site...although it's use on annuals for that reason would be completely impractical.

Mmm, I doubt it.:dunno:
Most hollow strain I've done was Blueberry...stems like straws....and not even close to most potent. :p
