The site is moving to a new server soon. I will try to keep the down time at a minimum.

Imminent?...sounds foreboding...
...routine procedure?...or do you anticipate a troublesome switch?
Thanks for being at the wheel. :)

Can't be any slower than the old one, though it's not as bad as it once was.

It's a coincedence that the troll *(Not Irwin) was logged in only one day ago? Seemingly, the server goes down everytime he logs in.

Yes. It's a HP Prolient I picked up on eBay for 300$. I have it setup as a bare metal VM host with Proxmox. Running 4 vms.
Linux LAMP
FreePBX
UNIFI Controller
Zonemaster çctv

Pbx is VM, others are LXCs
I use it as a lab for my commercial deployments.

That's a good question !
I'm sure there needed to be checks daily you know.
But as far as enviornment/watering control it was automatic.

Swinging windows, fans etc ~

Let's see if I can find it. It was pretty slick.

Never dabbled in automation, but I would think, modern home automation devices could be easily utilized for lights, HVAC and pumps.

ah but even a switch timer is automation

moving forward the deal is feedback to controlers
and it gets complicated fast here

hence my question

what response are you building into your system...

"Here is the heart of the automation. It is two Z-wave strips with ten controlled outlets. Both the roll up sides and the ridge vent require two outlets each, one for the power supply and one for the DPDT relay. I will detail this a bit later if anyone is interested. The remaining outlets control water, nutrients. res agitator / aeration, exhaust fan and circulation fan. There is a secondary relay there with four DC switches. Our whole house is z-wave automation."

Alexa, grow some dank.

PLC’s have been around forever

I’m fairly certain you’re all familiar with Allen Bradley if not directly, as a result of turning something on or off.

Cause that’s what they do, they turn shit on (1) or off (0)

I don't care if it's running on an old shoebox full of transistor radio parts and steel wool, it's running snappy! Like best I've ever experienced. Gad could have only hoped to make PG run this well.

Yep, that's open-loop control until you try to fully automate the process. Try getting a closed-loop control (where inputs directly vary outputs via algo) to run sweetly.

I never check runoff PH -
But since you mentioned it it is a good # to have on hand if you have to ability to do so

Generally speaking, runoff pH should be higher than nutrient solution pH. If runoff pH is lower, it indicates either a build-up of salts in the media or anaerobic bacteria, neither of which are good. In a healthy hydro system, pH always rises.

Coco coir. I compost mine when finished and use it in the garden for ornamentals and vegs. Perlite, rockwool etc is hard to dispose of and not very environmentally friendly, so I never use it.
