CARTOONS
Some folks grow out of 'em....some folks never do. :toker1:

At some point I think we've all smoked up and zoned out watching cartoons. There are a lot of different aspects of cartoons that I still enjoy...the styles of artwork, the sound track music, the storylines, the humor, etc. Wanted to start a thread for people to post up cartoons that they like, because I'm curious to see the variety in tastes. Hopefully we'll end up with a nice collection to watch when the mood strikes.

So...What cartoons do you like?

I'll get us started with some of my favorites...

This movie has a crisp graphic style with vivid colors, an awesome exhilarating sound track, and decent humor throughout.
Move over Speed Racer, this is REDLINE...

•EDIT• God damn Y/T!! The video still works if you're signed in...but now I don't have the cool thumbnail. So, here's the trailer...

...even though it's for the Japanese version. You'll still get the feel of the movie.

And in case you don't want to log into Y/T to watch the movie, here are a couple links for the English dubbed version:

https://gogoanime.be/watch/redline-dub- ... sode-full/

https://0123movie.ru/movie/redline-jpr9n/pjklx9j

Just X out of the pop-ups, ignore the anti-virus messages, and play the movie. When you put it on full screen those messages disappear.
[/edit]

Another one with great artwork and a deep storyline is Afro Samurai. I had seen this before and thought it was good, but the last time I watched it I was heavy into some 'shrooms and cannabis brownies...the story seemed so much deeper than I had remembered...

Forgot how I stumbled across this next one. Again, interesting art style, and absolutely vulgar dialog. :toker1:
Helluva Boss is a currently ongoing project with a pilot episode...

...and 6 episodes so far in season 1...coming up in the next post...

Will show what a moldie oldie I am, watched Fritz at the drive in's. I remember, it was a slew of the old faux biker movies. It looked like they spent $50.00 to make all of them.
I wonder if these are the first graphic comic books for adults? That got to the general public's radar? Buster Crab/Flash Gordon I think came from science fiction books. Superman, became America's propaganda bible. Popeye? I never really thought about it.

There is a prequel to the REDLINE movie. The main two characters are one of the racing teams from REDLINE. The art style is similar, but not quite as clean. Not sure if a dubbed version exist...I've only been able to find subtitled versions.

I want folks to be able to come to the thread and watch cartoons, so if I can help hook that up, I'm happy to do so.

I see Y/T put an age restriction on the REDLINE movie in my first post. So as I was searching for a decent trailer to edit into the post, I ran across the REDLINE pilot. I think this was used to sell the movie idea to the studios and/or investors...because it is different animation than what was in the movie...

So here I sat, wanting to watch something lighthearted....'comedy', always a good choice for that....usually.
But what I got was rude, crude, violent, and completely politically incorrect.

First up was Boogie (2015)...actually found this one on y/t as well...

And evidently I'm a glutton for punishment, because I couldn't stop there.
Next up was To Your Last Death (2020)...William Shatner actually does some narration in it...

So, in preparation for a little trip, I was scouring Tubi for some colorful options. It's hard to find good animations, let alone ones that are good on shrooms. I got lucky. I kept passing it by, but it kept popping up...so I put it on my list. Initially I didn't think I'd end up watching it. very cool nod to Komusō there at the beginning...
the priests of nothing ness

The komusō (虚無僧/こむそう) (also romanized komusou or komuso) were a group of Japanese mendicant monks of the Fuke school of Zen Buddhism who flourished during the Edo period (1603–1867).[1] Komusō were characterized by a straw basket (a sedge or reed hood known as a tengai) worn on the head, manifesting the absence of specific ego but also useful for traveling incognito.[2] They were also known for playing solo pieces on the shakuhachi (a type of bamboo flute). These pieces, called honkyoku ("fundamental pieces"), were played during a meditative practice called suizen, in return for alms, as a method of attaining enlightenment, and as a healing modality

Technically, no. Anime is Japanese...the Æon Flux series is an American animation.

I grew up with Astroboy and Speed Racer
My kids loved Dragonball Z

I watch full metal alchemist occasionally.

The animated series I'm assuming...very much like the movie. :)

I thought it was in Heavy Metal magazine too, but I can't find any reference that it was. :dunno:
All leads point to origin on MTV.

I wanted to put these in the mushroom thread...but they're cartoons. :p

Normally I find the superhero cartoons to be a bit cheesy...and these are both PG to boot.
However.....the graphic style and presentation are phenomenal.
The first is good, the second is great, and back to back would make a fantastic trip.
