Calcium deficiency?

Post by ripper5 »

So, although I did find a thrip hugging the main stem on one plant, with a tiny white nymph, I now don't believe that bugs were the main reason for the specks on the leaves. I think the biggest culprit was too much heat in the grow space. Good news is the temps have finally dropped.

Calcium deficiency?

Those first photos you posted are thrips. You didn't find them under the leaves because they have wings. They breed faster when it's hotter.

The others who diagnosed your problem are correct. It's really up to you whether you believe them or not but it doesn't change the fact it is insect damage, not heat damage.

Ok. So then the reason that it never worsened is due to the bug spray. Three weeks on and we finally have some buds starting...

It was a combination of things, heat being a huge part.

Yeah, thrips are usually pretty easy to control indoors.

The heat caused some stretch and delayed flowering. Now with the temp easing, they have a chance to thrive

Heat will do that, especially with sativas I've noticed over the years.

Calcium deficiency?

Post by Oldjoints »

I had a few plants that I let get a little to close to the light and they got fox-tailed all to hell. It looked like little buds growing out of buds. Even with putting in mini-splits in each of my rooms my flower room still gets too hot in the summer at times. I may just have to bite the bullet in summer months and switch to led’s in my flower room in summer. Already made the switch in veg.

Right there with ya on the LEDs. Yep my plants are showing the skinny overheated buds. A couple of plants might have even hermied, not sure yet. It's been awhile since I had a care free grow. :bonghitter:
