Gimme The Good Earth 4.1
^^ hmmm , Hope yer prescient haysus
Indeed there is a name for it Mister, it is California Pitcher plant, I misspelled it above, had posting pictures on my mind.
Say Mr G Did you quit and come back, Like a Phoenix Rising From the Ashes?
hey Bob! have I been seeing other hikers?
Oh hell yes, a few on the top of the Rogue River, and then none between the coast and Red Butte wilderness where I connected with a Pacific Crest Trail, pct.
After Seiad Valley cali, it started about 10 to 20 thru hikers a day northbound to Canada. But this last week because of fire closures everyone on pct had to jump ahead a hundred or more miles to skip around those fire closures. It tripled the flux of PCT hikers, there was a big bubble where I was seeing 60-80 hikers a day. Since I'm southbound and they're Northbound I'd been playing chicken with those guys all day on the trail.
Fwiw literally half are women, mostly soloing.. Yay baby!
Currently i'm at Castle Crags State Park, camping away from the campground and noise. There's a skunk nearby scenting the air, hinting my camp is too close. soooo .. lights out soon.
Thanks everyone for sharing yer joy from my little updates.

Holy shit...and holy shit...
I would have expected neither of those things.
Do you ever partner with other hikers for portions of your travels?
...or are you hardcore "get the fuk away from me" solo?
It's only fair, if we enjoy your updates, to express appreciation....rather than just

Hahaha !! This just made me spit my coffee.
But yes, precisely.
The mice come out to play when the cats are away.
Thanks for the name on that plant. I've actually heard of them before those are super dope.
Hanging baskets and such. Reminds me of Mario World

Do I partner up or a loner?
Both. Well except for sharing camps, everyone else is Northbound and I'm southbound (the southbound PCTers should be catching up with me this next section) so far no chance partering up for more than a camp together.
Generally I prefer to be alone. I'm not out here to socialize but many of the hikers are. yet most of these people are like minded, pleasantly easy to get along with. And half are young women!

Finally clear view of Mount Shasta after a thunderstorm yesterday. Notice no ice on this side, all the way to the top!!!!
Brown brown brown.
14000 foot tall Mountain, largest volcano in California and no snow or ice at the end of July.
Freaking freaky!
edit: oops pic didn't/won't upload. why can't I load attachments form my phone?
edit, got the pic to upload

That is so very cool Dill! Thanks bro.
Shows I am nothing special. Many have, and still do, find an intrinsic spiritual joy walking with nature. Although the packs have changed <grin>

I am in Burney Falls State Park.
Lassen Park is closed, Chester town is evacuated and Old Station town, next resupply, is partially evacuated from fires. I should of ended the trip yesterday on Friday the 13th, yanno karma. But I'm going to go on for the next four to five days, skies are relatively clearer today, I can see my shadow. I don't see how I can go any farther tho, my route is on fire. Now the popo. Weather, Long Days, fire and Bears are problem enough without cops too.
fwiw Burney Falls is awesome!
Smokey Vistas. Elderberry Icy cold Spring water. Using a dogwood leaf to channel the water for easy filling the water bottles. Old station is my next resupply and it's already partialy evacuated. Chester town, the next one, is already evacuated and cops are out and about Burney Falls.
