Biden's blunders...
WTF !?!?!Prawn Connery wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 4:41 amThere are filament bulbs that have been burning continuously for over 120 years!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centennial_Light

Every year in grade school we field tripped to Henry Ford Museum/Greenfield Village, where they purport to have...
"Step foot in the lab where Thomas Edison had his lightbulb moment..."
...where they have a lightbulb that the tour guides would tell us had been burning since Edison himself had turned it on.
I call bullshit on both...
...umm hello !?...between Enron and power outages, those claims are strictly bullshit.
Plus, Edison's lab was in New Jersey, not Michigan.
But they DO last a lot longer.

Biden's blunders...
Not posting for any other reason than a sample of Joe not in command of his pet.Prawn Connery wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 4:58 amI doubt the US Prez has time to go to dog training, but its mostly true there are no bad dogs, only bad owners. I own service-bred dogs and I do protection training with them. They are pretty serious dogs. One of the problems we encounter with some dogs is that they don't want to bite. Or they won't bite under pressure. Or won't bite when confronted. You'd be surprised how few dogs will really bite – and hang on – when put under pressure, in a real confrontational situation.
When you find a dog that does bite under pressure, we say that dog "bites for real". You can train dogs to bite almost anything, but they are only doing it for fun, not "for real".
Here's one of mine. Note the equipment. This bitch is mean and will bite anyone who walks through the door – invited or uninvited – unless I tell her not to. That's the key: you need to teach these dogs NOT to bite – which goes against their natural instincts.

I love this bitch, but I also have a male dog who is a machine. He's bitten me a few times in training (by accident) and gone down to the bone. He's the most beautiful dog when he's your friend, but he has a switch and can crush bones when he gets the command.
You cannot let these dogs off leash at any time unless you have voice command control over them, and that takes time and training.
Joe should have cats, or a chihuahua.

I've noticed Joe seems insecure in his Machismo. He's your classic Delaware redneck complete with "notice the man" ensemble.
Large aggressive breed dog, aviator glasses, corvette, say's "jack" all the time, tells corn pop myths. Probably never even got in a fight.
I lived 5 miles from Delaware. It's an air force base, a few beaches, and the rest is chickens. lots of chickens. More chickens than people.
I heard they let them chickens vote.

Biden's blunders...
To be fair (and because I've actually trained a few dogs in my time) that wasn't a kick. You can see how Biden was trying to round the dog up into the car using his leg, pulling it back into line. He wasn't lashing out at it and the dog would hardly have felt it. I think any observant – and objective – observer will see what I see. Especially if they've had any experience with dogs. The person who posted the video clearly has an agenda, calling people "Libtards" etc. It's a bit piss-weak if you ask me. Especially the bit about "Biden showering with his daughter".
Also, that German Shepherd is about 6-7 months old in that video, and dogs that age are not mature enough to be fully under control. They can understand basic commands and can follow them, but like a two-year-old child, their attention is all over the place and they are not reliable, or what we call "bomb-proof". We start basic training and shaping at about 3-4 months, but normally start serious training of service dogs at age two. And Shepherds don't usually fully calm down until they are about four. From that age they have complete focus and begin to be at their most reliable.

Hence the disclaimer of why I posted it. Not too many Joe and his dog videos pass by me. He just looks very awkward with is pet.

Biden's blunders...
That's prey drive. My dogs have Malinois blood in them. They're KNPV Dutch Shepherds. The female has more Dutchy blood and the male comes from a line of (Pit Bull x Malinois) x Dutch Shepherd.smokebreaks wrote: ↑Sat Oct 07, 2023 2:22 pmI have a girlfriend who owns a Belgian Malinois. This is what we mean by "bites for real". Most working line shepherds have strong prey drive, which means they will try to chase and "kill" anything that moves – including tennis balls and anything else – but will back out when seriously challenged.
The difference between "prey drive", "fight drive" and "defence drive" is that prey drive only works when the dog has odds overwhelmingly in its favour. As soon as it is challenged it goes into "defence drive" and will fight for its life or run away. Dogs bite harder but more erratically in defence drive compared to prey drive because they want the thing they are defending against to go away, whereas in prey drive they want to kill the prey to eat it – but the dog doesn't want to get injured or killed in the process. In prey drive, the dog weighs up the level of threat-vs-reward.
In "fight drive" the dog simply wants to dominate. It doesn't mater how hard the other thing is fighting – in fight drive the dog will continue to escalate until it has conquered its foe or died trying. You see this in dog fights, and especially in pit bull fights. It's where the expression "dead game" comes from, because the dog will continue to fight to the death simply to dominate its opponent. Very few dogs are "dead game".
In fight drive, the dog is still calm and makes very little sound. It saves its energy for the fight. A dog with high levels of fight drive can be very dangerous in the wrong hands because they are very stubborn and if they are not trained to listen to their handler will take matters into their own hands, thinking they know better than the handler.
