That looks like etiolation caused by it not fully going dormant in winter or lack of light while it still wasn’t in dormancy, You’re not supposed to water at all over winter to encourage dormancy.

Good news is that you got three new pups coming up that will all grow normal as long as there’s enough light.

it was never watered over winter.
i have to figure out a better winter spot for it.

think i will try setting it near a southern window
for the winter. last year i covered it and it grew
skinny over the winter. this sound like a good idea ?

it has 3 pups now. then here is top i had cut off. seems to be growing. i should do ok. need to over winter properly.
will try a south facing window this year.

i light proofed a large box.
i have covered it for the winter.
i quit watering a while back.
hope it goes dormant for me.
will see this spring. it is in total darkness.

my little house one in window is looking good. hope one in light proof box winters well.

well pulled cactus out from under box today and into the greenhouse.
the total darkness seems the way to go. it grew but not skinny a little
white on tops but not bad. least now i know a way to over winter one.
2 photo's 1 is last fall before i brung it in. other is today after unboxing.
the pup has made it tilt a little bit.
