old clone dick. the hashplant is older i planted it in 1982.
most my clones are old strains.

4 1/2 hours of trim jail today. 2 plants.
screen is 3' x 8' one side for buds other for leaf to dry.
will destem tomorrow. a few more sundays to go.

while trimming today seen something i never seen before.
there is like a burl knot on the plant. a small stem off bottom
of plant. is a dead leaf and a knot. is on a small stem not on
the stock of the plant. just a little stem with a knot and dead leaf
growing out of it.

Looks to me like a gall. I have seen many in my career as an arborist in not only trees but many plants. I have never seen one on a cannabis plant though. There are many causes such as parasitic wasps and mites and some are the equivalent of a plant tumor.

There may be an insect in the center of that growth but they are benign.

I collect succulents....it kind of looks like a form of cresting, its rare and desirable in many ornmental plants....obviously not mj.

Lrus, that sure looks like an insect gall. often the larvae is unnoticeable small especially from mite gall. Thanks for cutting it open and the pics.

not sure what it is . but got sam the skunkman wondering
over at ic mag . he is checking with a few people over it.
he asked me to keep it because he might want some tests on it.
to me is just a oddity never seen anything like it on pot.
i was lucky i even noticed it. when trimming i am racing myself.
been trimming every sun for over a month. after next sun some time off.

If you are truly interested you can send a slice to a local college that has a botanist and they will tell you free of charge. I’m pretty sure of my diagnosis but would be interesting to see the results from a lab.

I was looking at my big ones today and damned if it doesn't look like it's about to begin flowering.
Also, something has been digging at the base of the big plants so I added some chicken wire on top and used large rocks to hold it in place until I get some mulch.

doing a sog for fun. 36 i think, beer cups all nothing but worm castings.
under a 1k 7 strains. started bud on sunday. 2 front trays are 2 weeks
into bud already.

the sog worked out well. giving it another try out.
worked out to about 16 grams or a little more per plant/cup.

in cups you see there wants and needs quickly.
then the fixes are quick also.
i learned that the a11 likes grow nutes well into bud.
in 3 weeks of bud would yellow out and drop leafs.
so i gave it grow nutes during most of bud cycle.
is still growing and quite well at that. i am always
learning something new.

well since i am going to do this sog a while. i hate to be using
a 1000 watt MH in grow stage. i ordered a light today vivosun
T5 4' long 6 bulbs and fixture. should work out well. also is only
325 watts with all the bulbs on. has 2 switches 4 bulbs on 1 switch
and 2 bulbs on another switch. both switches on 6 bulbs. there 54
watts per bulb. should work well. then ordered rope light hangers.
then some ferts and a cord. then lastly some lettuce and chive seeds.
been broke but been saving for this. the light should pay for it's self
with power savings over a few months. never did hear back from sam
about that gall.

That’s a shame. I was looking forward to a professional diagnosis. I am pretty sure it was a crown gall but my interest was in the cause of infestation and if the transmission was due to agrobacterium tumefaciens which is a bacteria that has a long life span in soil and actually changes the DNA of the plant by inserting T-DNA into the host plant. Nature does some amazing things.....

My question is growing small quick clones vs large plants. I am growing large plants simply because I can legally only grow so many at a time. Even with my caretakers license I can only grow 18 in veg and 18 in flower at this time. I have always enjoyed growing small plants quickly and soil and everything it takes to grow large plants is PIA. But for me it’s all about the amount of harvest. So my question is with expenses and everything considered which method for you will harvest the most in a given amount of time? Keeping mothers around is not an option for me so I have to take that into consideration also. Doubt I would go as small as solo cups for flowering though.

well quickest is sog 2nd best is scrog for quickest weight.
so expenses and every thing sog is the best bang for the buck.
i am averaging 16/18 grams per cup depending on strain.
i do not keep mothers i clone off clones.
16 plants in 1 gal pots works well under 1k for a sog

Looking dank Lrus. What's the smell? Is it fruity or spicey?
I grow some Haze. Mids for me is a reference to the buds in the middle of the plant.
Mids/lowers - usually smaller get the jars, Bag the tops etc.

Is the stalk purple or that's just shade?

well got my 4' LED tubes today.
only mounted 1 so far. you can see it
between the 2 plants under the rebar.
excuse the mess that is just how i am lol.
will mount 3 more around cage when i
put more plants to bud. so my lights are
1k MH and soon to be 4 40 watt strip lights.
mounted low for the middle and back side
of the plants.

ok tubes were mildly warm down the whole tube.
is a alum strip down back side of tubes it is what
was warm. not the front of tubes. mild warm.

thought i need a cheap led to use for transplant from cups
to pots. then to grow till bud stage size. looked at all kinds.
i seen some led high bay lights 100 watt 5000k for about $30
each. so i got 2 might mess with 1 tomorrow. i plugged each
one in is bright and no dead chips. made for 13' high hanging.
will be lower than that. will see how one works.

fired up a 1k and put the 1st plant into bud. also 2
spare clones. plants are loving the 1k.

then have what will be another bud on a shade leaf stem.
is near top so will get some good light.

now the trick to have 1 ready every 2 weeks.
