only the 2nd time i bought seeds. the 1st was thai that was not good
a few years ago. so over a year i been looking for something new.
i chose some feminized durban poison from *dutch passion 5 seeds.
also got for free feminized *blimburn chemdog #4 and *G13 labs
sweet amnesia 2 seeds of each. was like $62 for them.
they shipped today, so should see them in a week or two.
never grew feminized seeds before. will update when i pop some.

I bought some DP grown local grown down the shops here recently and it was a very nice smoke and high. The analytics were around 25% THC. It still stands up against the latest superweed strain of the month just fine.

got them today. were packed well.
will pop one in a day or two.

last night i put 1 to soak. did not sink at bedtime.
get up today was floating. i touched it with finger
and it sunk. had my coffee and then planted it.
1/2 full solo cup of soil then say 1/4" of soil on top.
watered well and set in warm room. now i wait.

Nothing wrong with femmed seeds. They're no more prone to hermy than any other seed. It's all strain and environment influenced.

I soak my seeds until they sink, then put them in paper towel until they crack and grow tails. Then I plant them. Almost 100% seedling rate that way.

If you like Durban - and yeah, I know I'm a Paradise Seeds shill(!) - Dutch Dragon is a nice strain that produces very good yields. Lovely sweet tangerine licorice flavour, too.

I've got too many fucking seeds. More than I'll every grow in a lifetime. I popped some old Atomical Haze test seeds the other day - must be 10 years old or more - and only one out of four is growing. Two never germed and one is a runt/mutant that is barely growing.

Moral of the story: don't buy em unless you can grow em! Geez, Ive got some nice old genetics in my fridge, too . . . I should probably get busy with them before it's too late.

I go the paper towel in a sandwich baggie, then aim the sprouts down into little hole I make with this superb phillips head screw driver, you know the kind that isn't real big. I have lost very few beans with this method, so I don't experiment. I just hope I never misplace that screwdriver.

You could always use that "other" screw driver. Yeah, we've all seen you getting it on with your plants.

I think I've got some Sweet Tooth x Sensi Star seeds somewhere. Might be (STxSS) x Sensi Star - I think I cubed it back to the Sensi Star because it was pretty strong gear. Would have to have a look - let me know me if interested.

Are you saying those Durban Poison seeds that Bedlamatic sent me from South Africa in March 2004 weren't the real deal? Just curious . . . He sent me some Swazi and Malawai Cob, too. Jeeze, I still have some NL#5 x Skunk #1 he sent me in the same package that I never grew . . . close to 20 years old now, those seeds.

The DP came via echo in Durban, and the Malawai from derrayld. All old OG members. There was a fair bit of interaction between the Saffas and Aussies back then, as we were only across the Indian Ocean from each other. Wally Duck and Erliquin were sending their stuff over there and quite a few African seeds made their way over to us.

It's taxing my memory now, but the DP had nice blue hues and reminded me of an indica cross more than an extreme sativa. A deep, relaxing stone, but also clear in the head. Not really psychadelic at all. I know the taste is often described as aniseed or licorice, but to me it was quite sour. I dunno. It was a long time ago. I'd be disappointed to learn after all these years it wasn't real.

I bought Durban Poison back in the mid to late 80’s along with neville’s skunk#1 and early girl. I ended up crossing the skunk to the early girl and just smoked the Durban. Still kicking my own ass over that one. So the Durban Poison I got that was bred by Sam wasn’t the real deal either?

Use the paper towel method and let them grow tails first. The make a hole in the soil and plant them tail-first with the heads (seed shell) just under the surface. Lightly water and don't let the surface dry out. I germinate in a warm room and wait until mine have popped the surface before placing them under lights. A few things can kill seedlings: damp-off if you bury them too deep in water-logged soil; fungus gnat larvae can sometimes eat the emerging root before it has a chance to grow strong; dessication if you allow the topsoil to dry out before the root has time to emerge and tap into moisture.

Most of the above problems can be avoided if you give the seed a head-start before you plant it. If I know I have fungus gnats, I'll water with a little added eco or neem oil initially to keep them away until the seeding is established.

i have sprouted many seeds this way before. << bull headed..
soaked another seed sunk in 4 hours.
planted in another cup. bet i cooked 1st seed.
so planted and watered well and set in a cooler spot.
will see how this one goes. i have many other strains going.
so not sweating it to bad. but does suck a bit on store bought seeds.

Far out! Crowding? A little stretch isn't an issue if you've got room, but obviously the more energy that goes into building stem cells, the less goes into leaves and shoots. That might be part of the reason for slightly slower growth. I also like giving my seedlings a decent pot to let their roots stretch. By the time clones are ready to go in, they usually have a decent root structure.

here it is today. here it is a few minutes later after i took top for a clone. i will let it recover overnight. then i will transplant tomorrow.
it was 8 1/2" tall before i took the clone. not sure after.

seeds say 8 week strain.
i am guessing longer. buds are foxtail like, so is sativa leaning.
also keeps growing during bud like a sativa would.
i hope it is not a 12+weeker lol. will find out.
even a clone from it i put into a 1 gal 2 days later was least
3 inches taller. it likes to grow fast damn thing.

the pics say at least 4 or more like 5 weeks more

i noticed a few nanners last night.
i been looking plant over every night because i never grew
fem seeds before. not sure if it's from the stress of me
burning tops and cutting them off. i have a clone growing
in a pot i will bud it and see if it hermies. not sure what i am
going to do with plant next. none of the nanners has opened.
so i will wait and see. it gets worse it will be chopped so not to
seed other plants next to it. makes me wonder about getting
fem seeds ever again.

If it is just a few male flowers why not just cut them off before they open? I doubt it was because they were fem, my guess would be from stress like you mentioned.

If it just nannners, that is the stamen is coming out of existing female flower rather then a separate male flower then it's highly likely it won't have viable pollen.

is my hope i been watching nanners none have popped.
so i am on a wait and see pattern. will be 6 weeks sun.
i hope to wait till 8 weeks and take it down then.

no nanners have opened. looking close every day.
week and 1/2 left for 8 weeks then will chop ready or not.
have another one growing. i will put into bud after chop of this one.
then will not burn tops up and see if it was stress on my part. opps

Wow, those turned fast. I was expecting more bulking.
Plants look extremely healthy though.

well it is ready when ever i get the gumption to trim it.
i would say it is a 7 week plant. soon as this one is cut down.
i have one growing ready to take it's spot. much shorter it
grows a lot during bud. so maybe i will not toast the tops this time.
will see if it does not hermy from the light burn. here is 2 photo's

well i cut it down on sun night 8 weeks.
i would say 7 weeks on next one. destemed today
is on screen drying. will try it in a week or so.
i will take a bud photo when it's dry. it has already
been replaced with a clone of it. plant is shorter so i
hope no light burn lol. it does grow taller whole
time it is budding. hope this time no burn no hermi.
btw the hermi's did not put out pollen that i can see.
one last thing was to busy trimming with sticky hands
so no photo. i had a few leafs with a little bud on them.
3 things i noticed with this plant. the bud on leaf the
growing taller as budding and the red sap when pinched.
guess that is it. hope it smokes well and clone does not hermi.

a google search did show some other cannabis pics with red sap, and Hawaiian strain called blood cannabis. I had no idea. Thanks Lrus.

The way the flowers look screams sativa, patience. Looks fabulous too.

Whoa! fire it up!

well smoked a few joints of it so far.
first joint of day so clear head to try it.
does seem quite stoney but takes whole joint.
sadly smells hay like and green taste when burning.
only 2 week cure so far. maybe a few more weeks
it will taste and burn better. joint likes to go out.
is plenty dry. is small buds but dence.
the clone of it in bud is doing good. the plant loves
to grow. like 1" or more a day. i started really short
so will not be burning tops. will see if it hermi's again
if so it is gone. guess that's it for now.

figured since i burned the hell out of the tops 1st time...
i started to bud short, plant on top of a large pot
and a few other lift's. is 3" from floor tonight. i removed
a 3" lift tonight. the plant grows whole bud cycle.
