Did you try to go to setup and turn off sleep time etc restart.

then go back in and reset what the laptop is to do ... i.e. hibernate sleep.. restart. fart.. etc?

And check.. all the monster shit they loaded on your comp to spy on you? May be running and has to stop in middle of uploading all your secrete files?

If it's Win10, I've had sleep/wake issues with two of those.

And yeah, Win10 almost requires an SSD drive. With HDDs, they take too long to boot.

when you click a video to "fill screen" and then hit escape to downsize it,
the browser window you were in rolls itself up about a half and inch exposing a strip of desktop

don't even know the model, just that its an hp

couldn't find anything while poking around in the icon at the bottom left

did discover it has a dvd-rw drive!
didn't realize that; assumed it didn't have any drive
but knowing it does now, and since its not a cromebook it will need maintainance. how do I strip the system down and them make a disc so that I can do clean installs?

well now I know exactly how much memory ive got,
but it doesn't name the model number

settings ( then type in about in search then click about your pc

the 'about page' has vague answers,
the type of memory it states doesn't google
neither does the model number
I went to hp but I cant find it either
about page doesn't state what graphics card I got so I cant narrow it down that way either

well it looks like I can add 8megs of ddr4 but I cant afford it

micrsoft moved away from providing an installation disc for a clean install. now they want ya to network (moving to the online cloud installing and bullshit pay-per-use).
Because of MS's and apple's greed over user usability, Deran is right linux is the inevitable solution. resistance is futile.

Ya could always call up MS tech support and ask for help. or even an installation disk.

I'd deffo find someone more computer savvy to have a look at it in person.

here a story of my short time room mate (wanted to sleep 2 to 3 nights, and lasted for 6 weeks)

anyways, he got a laptop, his very first puter in his life, a total noob, had it only for 2 or 3 months ....

it was fucking up anything you wanted to use it for, so i attached my usb stick, booted up linux as a live system and ran an anti virus software (clamAV) only to find it had a ton of malware installed, more than 30 viruses ... just bc he (the idiot he is) clicked on anything that popped up, bc he was watching movies online, either a stream or as a live download .... i gave my best to erase most of them, but 10 couldnt be killed .... my solution was to format the disk, and restore his data that he had. like personal pics ....
2 days later, i found out, he restored the viruses and all shit ...

so i had to cut down the router access, bc the idiot he is, he didnt understood that his machine is a threat to the whole network - nope idiot, no inet for you


what i want to say

ppl are victims of their own behavior, they cant think outside of the box and a movie for jerking is much more important than security ... well, still today ppl fuck hookers without rubbers, and havent learned a thing

step by step, knowledge wont come over night only by lessons

or to take out the battery (if possible) from the mainboard , as long they dont have a battery/memory buffer ... that ive seen on modern main boards ....

some further hack is to cut the power on the needed things, this can be some scary shit, like there was a hack for some games, where you had to pull out the power connector on the harddrive - while using the puter - to bypass some intern routines, and by that you could use the software

and whats with videos auto playing when you load a page with one. is there a preference that would prevent that from happening?

And IE (ugggg!) Chrome is a bit bloat, but intuitive and reasonable secure (for google). no one ever said were sorry for leaving IE

the longer a page has stood loaded the more likely its text will be unavailable to highlight soas to copy it
and reloading the page doesnt work
you have to open a new tab with the same url, then you can highlight text

all the fields where text or a video window would be are offcolored blank fields

and a restart didn't help,

I can play a video if its enbedded in a page,
if I click "watch on youtube.com" so I can fill the screen the new tab that opens is blank save for a youtube header
not a link on the page

and the stream player wont link to anything now
the one in the new tab that comes up when I click on the listen live button
its a public radio station that streams

and these couple hours later youtube is loading normally again...

Sorry i'm no more help. My MO is reformat the harddrive and reinstall a known working backup. Else, as you are, likely into some head scratching n time wasting ...

and my last computer didn't even have a disk drive

I dunno. i'm a legacy guy, I only run bootlegged operating system (XP) that i hacked/customize so no registering or phoning home is needed, and a burned onto a disk my self.
and linux which are a free downloads and the disk and will run 'live' so no installing needed.

The best backup and restore Partitions or drive images for linux and windows is and i use is "Image for Windows " and "Image for Linux) by terrabyte(?)
altho it may not work the newest windows ??? and apple, well yer screwed to start with, IMO.
