I'm too broke to buy anything to enhance the many aspects of my grow, not even a bag of dirt.
I scavenger almost all of my equipment and substrates, these days.
I was doing hydro, but my box is small so the yields were low due to space and heat issues.
I should have it re-engineered by spring. For now, I start and veg inside, and then put them in the ground outside to flower.
I live in the south, so winter is tolerable for outside flowering.
I took a long shabatacle from grows when I moved from my condo up north about 5 years ago.
I just got some good genetic seeds in September, so I'm off and limping.
My most mature plants are 2 phenos of a c99 cross
I dont know the history of this particular breeding venture, but I'm sure someone can shed light on that.
I kept one as a mom, trimmed off the buds at 22 days(best preemies, I ever smoked).
She is recovering and healthy
before
after
The other looks good too and is now at 37 days of 12/12
I took 2 cuttings from each of these plants and they all are rooted and vegging.
I plan on putting them outside to flower in mid Dec.
The two seedlings are a cross of ogre X deiselwreck
They are 10 days old starting with day I first saw a taproot.
My veg box is as about as ghetto as it comes. but functions.
I have 9 cf bulbs rated at 1750 lumens.
and 1 small fan.
I track my plants with a growlog almost daily if you want to check it out, my sig has the link.

OK, some plants Check the couch cushions for change to get a bag of MG fert-dirt to up-pot them into. I'll bet you'll see those take off.

Yes, my soil mix has drawn several suggestions to improve it.
I have 1000 in bills due as of today, and Im a few hundred short, so I cant justify even the smallest expenditure this month, not to mention christmas is on the way and I have 4 kids.
So here's what I am working with for now, improvements to come as feasible.
It's looser than it looks as the ground here is mostly sand. Im literally on the beach.
I added some soil and manure for moisture retention as much as nutrient value.
The air is dry and the sand dries quickly.
I will be adding some course substrate, maybe seashells or pea gravel in the next potting if there is one,
I see growth everyday, and although not as rapid as my hydro, Im not disappointed with what I see.
I alternate the nutes, I have laying around. Some Alaskan Fish Fert, Fertilome root and bloom, Epsom salts, and GH 3part(which Im holding off for a hydro growing).
Has anyone ever used all natural clay cat litter as a substrate? I saw a 3$ for 25#s bag last nite and got to wondering about it as a moisture retainer to mix with the sandy soil I have.

This is a poorly done img montage from tonites box of goodies,
left is mom
then 3 clones, all looking good and now growing better after rooting and blossom stretch.
4th clone is in the yard flowering as of 11/24. should be ready by MLK day.
5 little Fionas from the muncher
and 2 ogreXdeiselwreck seedlings, one doing much better than the other.
I'll post better pics when things get more interesting and time slows a bit.

bout time for an update.
the cold snap has taken a toll on the growth rate of my outdoor plants
at about 30 days I was expecting a bit more, but hell, growing outdoors in Jan is a luxury most can't practice.
so Im grateful for any yield I get.
These are in order of appearance
3 c99 clones
one Ogre x Deiselwreck

Inside under 9 cfls, ive got to get these girls outside by Jan 15 for a complete flower cycle, theyve had much more time to veg and should do ok.
I keep all my plants short and flower early to avoid detection.
I do some pretty aggressive cropping, so the weird shape leaves will reveal this.
I also had some PH issues due to using Alaskan Fish Ferts, 7.0 water and miracle grow potting soil.
Ive now been PHing the water to 5.8 and all looks much better.
These 3 little birds are Fionas crossed up by munchy, I may have to keep a mom if I gt a choice pheno, like the one in his thread. The next pic is a clone from the ragged ass looking mom further down.
Shes child worn
