Stuff to watch on mushrooms...

Just telling a trip a true story. Were we on acid or tripping at the time? ... No. not that I recall . I recall I remembering a mostest sobering moment. Driving in the van 3 of us. At normal speed mind you maybe 45? open highway south Texas no trees nothing but a few shrubs. We are just driving along and then suddenly... the road does a down hill S zigzag ... gravel road.... paved to gravel .... van starts sliding.. on the left my drivers side I look out and the is a cliff edge. And the van is sliding toward it. I whip the wheel around to spin the tires the opposite direction. I used to practice this manaever sp in Karmart parking lots. Always, loved driving in snow.

My experience with Mushrooms. You can't watch anything. It's not like acid where to can watch the Beatles song. 60 seconds is a long time. Your mind is disfunctional.

A different world...

Too much napping last weekend, so I didn't get a trip in. :dunno:

This weekend, I was just looking to chill...maybe catch something that stretches the imagination. Empty stomach for the 2.5g dose of Golden Teacher...was still feeling a touch bloated from earlier in the day. Lined up three flicks, but knew I'd probably only do two. The movies I selected are not relatable to the world we live in. They are worlds of their own...

Coma (2019)

This first one is a Russian film, but the dubbing to English was done pretty well. The biggest draw was the visual appeal of the depiction of the concept that is presented. What is it like when you're in a coma? The movie is a rather dramatic representation of what that world looks like...at least in the eyes of it's story writer(s). It is a wonderful adventure examining that world.

...or can be seen/rented on several other streaming services.

Mortal Engines (2018)

The next movie is aboot a dystopian society, where cities are mobile, and the strong devour the weak. It pays to be fast, so as not to get consumed for your resources. The concept is very different than our current world. Lots of steampunk-ish design that is fun to look at. And the story frequently has you on the edge of your seat with a dramatic music score. I found it to be very immersive.

Both movies were definitely solid choices.

Stuff to watch on mushrooms...

Post by Butcher Bob »

It's been a while...

...six weeks to be exact. :p
For various reasons, I have been taking a break. One week I was less than an hour from tripping, and got a phone call that took me right out of the mood. A couple weeks the timing just didn't sync up right. And a couple weeks I just didn't feel like it...just felt like smoking some bowls instead. :dunno:

But I went to my brothers this weekend, sooo...
I just let him and niece #2 pick out the movies to watch. Bro and I had aboot a 3g dose of Golden Teacher each. Since we've gotten to a point where we dislike the taste, bro tried something that he'd read was good for cleansing the palate...chocolate, a high cocoa content chocolate. He said it worked instantly. We waited aboot 40 minutes for the mushrooms to kick in, then called his daughter to come down and watch the movies.

I'll start with the second movie first, since it isn't making the list. Because we all liked Across the Universe, my mere mention of A Complete Unknown had them jumping at the idea. I'll admit, my brother had already expressed the desire to see the movie before...I was just jogging his memory for him. The show was fantastic. It was quite riveting to watch, drawing you into the story of Bob Dylan's beginnings. But it isn't a "tripping" movie...just an extremely good documentary style flick.

But the first movie...

Shrek (2001)

I had never seen the movie...never even had the slightest desire to watch any of the Shrek movies. For some reason they just never appealed to me. Well we watched this one through the highest peak of the trip, and I found it to be absolutely hilarious. The color and the animation make a great base for a tripping movie, but the humor and wit is what really get this film on the list. Now it's got me thinking I might have to review the rest of them as well...we'll see.
