Really didn't have anything specific in mind...
...just thought I'd go through some of the more questionable movies lined up.
All I knew to begin with was that I had a single 3g cap of Tidal Wave...
...two awesome hot buffalo chicken & swiss sammiches...
...and a list of nine possibilities.

I ate the cap and checked on one I really wanted to see...fuk, cam version.
Ok, guess I'll just jump right in with something iffy while I eat.
Started with Time Addicts...a foreign indie sci-fi flick aboot time traveling drugs.
Wasn't really a tripping movie, and then at the end....SAD.

Fuk...that's not what I wanted...okay, shift gears...maybe a silly kid's movie?
So I pulled up IF...it has Ryan Reynolds, gotta be good, right?
Eh, not bad but still not a real good tripping movie...
...and then at the end...again...SAD.

Damn it!...I really need something good at this point...
...but my list is all stuff that looked questionable to begin with.
Okay, I didn't really want to watch this one, because it's a Jerry Seinfeld thing.
I don't really care for Seinfeld.

I'm just kind of resigned to it being a shit night for movies, so expectations are low.
But thank God...it was the goose's golden egg of the evening.
To say I was surprised would be an understatement...
...it was upbeat..it was fukking hilarious ...it was perfect...

C.S. Lewis and my childhood...

This weekend's experience was different than normal...more personal.
Yeah I watched some movies, but that isn't really what this is aboot.
I'll throw them up at the end...but for now I'll just tell the story...


Before I could even read, mom got me a book set by C.S. Lewis called The Chronicles of Narnia, written back in 1950-56. She would read a bit after dinner to my brother and I each night. She made it through all seven books a couple times. Once I started reading in grade school, I started reading them myself...several times over. It's been ingrained into my head.

Well then 30 years later the movies started coming out...so of course I had to watch them. As I watched each one when they came out, I thought they did a very good job visually and in following the story as written in the books. So this is how they end up on my list to review. I thoroughly thought these would make great movies to trip to. Maybe they are...in retrospect, I'm not so sure, because the mushrooms had different plans for me than what I intended.

I got the movies cued up. I weighed up 2.5g of Tidal Wave for the initial dose, and 1.5g of Golden Teacher to take an hour later as a bump. Then I cooked up some cheese sticks to eat. I started the first movie...I ate the first dose...then I ate the cheese sticks. An hour in, I was eye-balling the second dose....wasn't really feeling it...put it back in the freezer. Normally I'd be gung-ho for the booster, but something was telling me 'no'.

At this point it's grabbing me pretty good, and I settle in to enjoy the flicks. But I'm noticing that my mind isn't really watching. I mean yeah the movie is on and I'm watching it, but my mind is doing something else. It has wired into, and is now wallowing in, the emotion memories from those times as a child reading or having those books read to me. In all the trips I've had, and that's been a lot, I've never had an experience quite like this.

It was a wonderful time...just not my normal movie viewing experience. So I'm not even really sure if these would be good for other folks. I'm going to put them here, because they were the experience, and that experience was good for me. There is a certain amount of angst that goes along with them though, because the books are each aboot struggle.

A movie and it's sequel...


Pretty much same routine as last time, but this time I ate up that extra bump.
I've had both of these up for review since the second one came out.
Bro went and saw it IMAX...said he thought it would be good trippin'.

Well, they're both good...with a caveat.
The colors, the fantastical world...that is what makes it wonderful.
But to enjoy that, you are also going to have to swallow the dark, destructive side of human nature...
...and that, can be a very bitter pill.

Another weekend that didn't go as according to plan...


Went to my brother's this weekend. Wifey had gone to her dad's and would be bringing him back home with her on Sunday night...so bro and I had the house to ourselves. Plan was a heavy party dose Saturday evening and flicks. Buuut, after I got there Friday night, wifey calls and says she'll be back with dad on Saturday afternoon...and that her brother and significant other would be coming on Sunday. My brother, being a schedule oriented individual, does not handle changes to his plans well.

He's given up hope of trippin'. I reassure him we can just do lighter doses, and watch movies that we'll watch whether we're trippin' or not. He sees the light and we just do smaller doses...I do 2g of Golden Teacher....and I'd been puffin' some really good smoke that SIL had gotten from one of her friends. All four of us watched the first movie...bro and I watched the second...and the third I watched with my nephew, who had just gotten home from work.

We started with a new movie...


The Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (2024)

I found this one interesting because it was overall a typical storyline you might see in a movie...but instead of humans in the roles, it's human-like evolved monkeys. While tripping, that aspect seemed fascinating to me.

Starship Troopers (1997)

This one is a classic. I hadn't seen it in so long that it felt like the first time watching it. It is too funny to see really good special effects scenes mixed in with really hokey effects in other scenes. We were laughing through much of the movie.

For the last movie, the trip was pretty much over, but the color and crispness visual affect were still going on...


Space Sweepers (2021)

This is a very cool South Korean sy-fy movie. There are a few subtitles, but most of the non-English actors are dubbed. It's very easy to follow. And the visuals in this movie matched up well with where I was at in the trip.

Got myself all jacked up with some hard tunes this afternoon in preparation.
Only planned on two movies for the evening.
Movies cued up...check.
Cheese sticks cooked up...check.
A 3.1g dose of Golden Teacher weighed up...check.
Some CreamZ in the bowl loaded up...check.
Grab an energy drink and let's go!!

Since I'm already amped up from this afternoon's music...
...I figured I'd start things out with an action movie.
It is the first in a series of four...I'll check the rest later.
It kind of barely makes the list.
It starts out slow, so it was good to begin the trip with...

I'm a bit worn out at this point...and ready for some laughs.
I reaquainted myself with the storyline in the first three movies a couple weeks ago.
And I've be waiting to see this one for months.
They never disappoint...the minions are fukking hilarious.
I laughed my ass off every time their parts come up in the movie.
Perfect timing, right through the peak...highly recommended.

Alright...I took last weekend off, because I just didn't 'feel' it.
I've learned, set and setting make a big difference, so if I'm not feeling it I just don't do 'em. It's just not worth it. It's not like it's bad, it's just not as good as it should be. This weekend I was ready...


Let's get loaded!...


I was gifted a pack of gummies. In Michigan gummies come in 200mg packs, usually 10mg per piece...I guess two should be a pretty good dose, but it never seems enough for me. This pack the "serving size" was still the normal 10mg, but there was only five gummies so they were 40mg each...double the double I normally do. So I took two...80mg should be fine, right? And this was in addition to the 2.5g of Golden Teacher I took for the trip. . And there was the bowl packed with some CreamZ that had also been gifted. Hmm, it is good to have friends...weed, edibles, and mushrooms...all gifted.

I had five movies on deck, so I was well set for choices. For the first one I wanted to continue with the Thor movies, so I watched Thor: The Dark World. While it was a good movie, it was not really a good tripping movie. It was indeed visually dark, and too serious. Kind of knew this one wouldn't make the cut, but I have higher expectations for the next two Thor movies...they are much brighter, with way more humor. I knew beforehand that this movie was questionable, but I have to start with something to get things rolling. And now, on to the main event of the evening...


Borderlands (2024)


I've been waiting nine months to see this. To start out, let me give a little background. Borderlands is a video game series that came out in 2009...of which I've played the first release, along with it's five expansions, and also the second release. So I'm familiar with the characters and setting of what's going to be in the movie. I love the games and still play to this day. I am hyped for this movie.

But, the critics panned the movie. It did so poorly that it was released digitally just three weeks after opening in theaters. Even by my own admission...not even a single character was cast correctly, the character types were not true to the game, the storyline was completely wrong...and I knew all this going in, so my expectations were low. But I really, really wanted to watch it, sooo...

Now that I've pointed out the downside, let's get to how it turned out...
It was fukking GREAT! (The critics can go fuk themselves) Despite the fact that it didn't exactly fit the game...it was very colorful, the sets were fantastic, the 'look' of the characters was great, it was pretty humorous, and it had a decent storyline of it's own. I almost think expecting it to be terrible, let me just enjoy what they were putting out. I highly recommend tripping to this movie...especially if you've played the game.

It popped up on the movie feed on the 123movies site....so of course I watched it.

Looked like it'd be a chill evening watch while puffin' some bowls, but I really didn't have any idea of what to expect. It may or may not be watched while tripping. I did not, because I knew there would be "scientific" information that I wanted to be able to understand. But it ended up not being very complicated. The documentary really just covers an experiment that was done concerning psilocybin and meditation.

I might rewatch it on mushrooms though. It's very calming in nature. All throughout the movie they add little animations to the footage that looks pretty cool and takes you a bit off guard when they pop up. They also have several spots of manipulated footage that look like you're hallucinating. And there is a ton of nature footage that looks awesome.

The only downside for me, and I checked all the freebie sites, was that there weren't any subtitles. That was kind of a bummer because there are several different languages throughout the film. Their website indicates that it is available subtitled in several different languages, so maybe through legit sources subtitles are available...I will have to check next time I visit my brother.

Sometimes things just don't go as you hope for...last night was one of those times. Got five movies cued up, with a new movie that looks very visually appealing as the main selection. Started the first movie...downed just over 3g of Golden Teacher...was enjoying my cheese sticks...and the problems started. The movie started to be interrupted with that annoying 'loading' circle. By the time it was half way through, I had to switch sites. Had to utilize a third site before I could get to the end. But finally I got through it...


Thor: Ragnarok (2017)

On to the third Thor movie. This one was much lighter and way more colorful than the last. And the humor was stepped up. Adding Hulk to the movie added some hilarious scenes. And when the heavy action scenes get started, the kick ass jams start playing as well...just hypes you up. Despite the technical difficulties, this was a good one to start out with.

DOGMA (1999)

This...is a classic. It was pretty much a throw away project that turned into a cult classic. The humor and philosophical commentary are what make this movie. A big 'fuk you' to religion...and yet a stamp of approval at the same time...exploring both the hypocrisy and simplicity of it all. But by and large, it should keep you chuckling throughout.
