what you gonna grow for this season part 2

Post by Solid Gold Butt Plug »

I planted a Cedrus deodara about a week ago….I want to get more evergreen and conifers planted around the property.

I’ve been planting things that are deer and chicken proof but that doesn’t stop the bucks from rubbing their antlers on things….I planted a row of 10 wichita blue junipers last year after the snow took out the olive row I was working on….the buck on my property only comes around a week or two every fall but ruined 5 of the wichita blue junipers.

Probably about 1500 feet from my house and I never even noticed it.

Picture does it no justice to its actual size.

had to hit feed store for some rabbit food. while i was
there i grabbed some of those expanding peat seed starters.
then was a seed rack out so grabbed some chive seeds. then
seen sunflowers and thought of dill wanting us all to grow some.
grabbed a pack and went and grabbed a few more peat pucks.
got potato's chitting. not much to do yet but spring is just around
the corner. did get some lily bulbs for xmas from a friend. were
huge like 6" around. gave me 4 of them from his garden. i planted
them hope they make it. had a little lettuce in greenhouse. but the
temps dropped and they died was surprised they lasted this long.

did not think to grab cam. noticed barrel by gate had chives popping
up. was a problem tho. never got barrels covered so had sunk almost
a foot.so i dug them up. put some rabbit shit compost in and then soil.
transplanted them back and added the seed i had bought. so got chives
about 6-8" tall going already. then looked for last frost date. mid april.

last year had a boatload of onions. did not store very well.
red ones lasted longer than green and yellow. but still short.
did some reading on ones that store longest. came up with
southport red globe. will grow here and stores well. i have
always planted onion sets. seems these i can only get seed
for. is early enough still so ordered some seed. will see how
that works out.

moved a heat mat a tray and dome upstairs and plugged it in.
put my 2 pepper pots in there. is warmer up here. then i
planted some parsley and some cabbage seed. there in a
tray of water overnight. then put them in there also. i hope
to get my onion seed this week to get in there also. got a soil
PH meter. was fubar so ordered a different one. adding a little
sulfur and ironite to the potato barrels this year. they like a lower
PH. if you drink ground coffee put it around blueberries they like
a lower PH and is a easy place to dump them.
