remember uhf?

After enjoying the fruits of your labors, we all need a place to chill. This is that place. Totally senseless irrelevant banter encouraged.

More familiar with the Capital Center. I left the area before I was driving, and my family usually went to Montgomery Mall. My dad serviced alot of restaurant equipment around the beltway. Georgia Ave was our main corridor of travel.

When they first migrated to digital signaling, there was chatter about using the bandwidths for data.
Are the aircraft using the same frequency? could be interesting to eavesdrop.
No. There are dedicated frequencies for emergency transmissions (maydays etc), as well as traffic broadcasts in remote areas. I used to tune in to the AM radio stations when I was bored flying for hours over the desert. Most aircraft also have an ADF (aerial direction finder) that can tune into any UHF broadcast and locate the direction of the antenna it is being broadcast from, which can be used to navigate at night or under instrument flight rules (IFR).

when i was a teen and into sailing,
there was still a radio device that would let you know precisely the original of radio beacons so youd have a straight line on the chart of where you might be...
