it doesn't make sense why he would do something like this surely he isn't a stupid man and would know of the long-term consequences for himself, seems really fishy and a deliberate orchestrated move like a false flag operation to confuse NATO
He obviously did it because he thought he had the support. There was apparently a lot of support from the local population when they took Rostov and Voronezh. The Russian people know Putin and his cronies are corrupt. The man on the street lives in fear of being drafted and the families live in fear of their menfolk coming home in pine boxes. All for a war that has brought no benefit to the average Russian and is putting their economy (and military) further and further behind the west.
Are revolutionaries traitors? Well of course they are. In the beginning. Then they become heroes.

the idea with revolutionaries is always that the man on the street; particularly the cops and soldiers,
will have such sympathy with the revolts side that they stand down at their jobs at the instance the law tells them their supposed to fight.
its actually a noble positions, agreeing to accept the judgement of the average citizens in the act they are perpetrating.
some sources say the average russian showed such alignment with these contractors that they demonstrated the win which didnt necessitate going through with it.
