- A big lie -
The German expression was coined by Adolf Hitler, when he dictated his book Mein Kampf (1925), to describe the use of a lie so colossal that no one would believe that someone "could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously."[1][2]

A big lie (German: große Lüge) is a gross distortion or misrepresentation of the truth, used especially as a propaganda technique.

did you watch it?
did you watch the youtube trump released a few days before when he announced he'd come to an 'agreement' with cnn and so would attended the event. he was absolutely giddy! and why not seeing that CNN had decided he could script the entire event!!! and to ice his cake they agreed to provide a short women for his to oggle in between his glaring at her...

thats right.
they agreed to everything AND threw in a live victim on stage for him to GET at...

that crowd KNOWS everything he REPEATED was a lie.
they dont care
they LOVE that lie
and want a society where the truth is entirely driven from any public spaces...

and CNN threw in with that...

Hitler's Basic Principles

1. Avoid abstract ideas - appeal to the emotions.
2. Constantly repeat just a few ideas. Use stereotyped phrases.
3. Give only one side of the argument.
4. Continuously criticize your opponents.
5. Pick out one special "enemy" for special vilification.

These principles are abstracted from Jowett & O'Donnell.

Goebbels' Principles of Propaganda

When reading these propaganda principles, keep in mind that they were applied in wartime (WWII) and involve issues that don't arise otherwise. It's a long list, but Goebbels was dealing with the complexity of an all-out war. While reading them you may realize that some of the principles are generally applicable and not limited to wartime. Some might be quite familiar today. It is interesting to note that Goebbels' principles derive from Hitler's own ideas of propaganda.

Propagandists must have access to intelligence concerning events and public opinion.
Propaganda must be planned and executed by only one authority.

It must issue all the propaganda directives.
It must explain propaganda directives to important officials and maintain their morale.
It must oversee other agencies' activities which have propaganda consequences.

The Propaganda consequences of an action must be considered in planning that action.
Propaganda must affect the enemy's policy and actions.

By suppressing propagandistically desirable material which can provide the enemy with useful intelligence.
By openly disseminating propaganda whose contents or tone causes the enemy to draw the desired conclusions.
By goading the enemy into revealing vital information about himself.
By making no reference to a desired enemy activity when any reference would discredit that activity.

it goes on at some length but you get the picture...

In the 21st century, the term has been applied to attempts to overturn the result of the 2020 U.S. presidential election by Donald Trump and his allies, specifically the false claim that the election was stolen through massive voter and electoral fraud. The scale of the claims resulted in Trump supporters attacking the United States Capitol.[3][4] Later reports indicate that Trump knew he had lost the election while promoting the narrative.[5][6][7][8] Scholars say that constant repetition in many different media is necessary for the success of the big lie technique, as is a psychological motivation for the audience to believe the extreme assertions.

Joseph Goebbels also put forth a theory which has come to be commonly associated with the expression "big lie". Goebbels wrote the following paragraph in an article dated 12 January 1941, sixteen years after Hitler first used the phrase. The article, titled "Aus Churchills Lügenfabrik" (English: "From Churchill's Lie Factory") was published in Die Zeit ohne Beispiel.

The essential English leadership secret does not depend on particular intelligence. Rather, it depends on a remarkably stupid thick-headedness. The English follow the principle that when one lies, one should lie big, and stick to it. They keep up their lies, even at the risk of looking ridiculous.[15]
