vanilla extract and vanilla sugar
I’ll do it the slow way….The only thing I’m trying to figure out is what alcohol I’m going to use…Everclear is super strong, vodka has no flavor like everclear but not nearly as strong…I’m leaning towards mixing a strong rum with a flavorful rum even though I’m more of a fan of whisky for drinking on the very rare occasion I drink.

you want it to be from 80-100 proof.
can speed it up by slicing the beans.
i did whole beans so least a year better in 2.

Hey Lrus007, after seeing the start of this thread, it has been running around wild like, in my wee brain.
Are you blending a few varieties of beans into your jars/bottles with alcohol?
Now that I'm out reading about this orchid, I'm fascinated by it.
Hell, a pair of quart jars would last me to the the end of my sentence here on earth.
I make cannabis infused sugar, and that would be far better taste to add some TRUE vanilla extract to that.

i did 2 batches. did not mix any beans.
best flavor is the madagascar beans.
2nd best is tahitian beans.
mexican beans suck.

vanilla sugar sure smelled stronger when i opened a jar.
made some coconut pecan bar cookies i have made up.
is great but tried 1 more add in last night.
have to cool overnight so will enjoy tonight.

been a year. lots of floaters in gal jugs. i took a 150ML
syringe i have and sucked some up from a measuring cup.
then i folded up some cheese cloth and covered end of the
syringe with it. then filled bottle with it filtered. did 1 at
a time and into bottles i got for it. 8 oz. bottles.
looks a bit light colored but smells good. i topped off
the 2 jugs. should only get better as it gets older.

I made two 1.75 litter bottles…50 beans each.
One was made with 80% vodka and 20% rum with 50 beans that were cut up and split…..I’ll be gifting that for Xmas, I got the exact same bottles you have for gifting, I think mine might be 12 ounce….I’ve tried it in pancakes and cookies and am very happy.
The other is straight 90 proof whiskey and the beans were left whole, I won’t touch that one till what ever I keep from the other bottle runs out…whole beans take longer.

i taste tested some still has a boozy taste. i did whole beans
they say to split them. i left them whole. i don't think the booze
is getting thru the bean casing. thought a while then said fuck it.
i dumped extract from gallon jug. then plucked the beans out.
looked just like when i put them in. and a lot to a lb. thought of
splitting but looked like it would be a bitch. so i cut all the beans
into like 1" pieces. pain in the ass getting back into jug. then put
the extract back in. was 2 jugs took me a hour per. i will strain the
extract so should be good to go. also when cutting beans were full
of the inner seeds like they were still fresh. so was glad i did it will
be much better. i figure a few months i can check how smells/tastes.
