With McQuade noting there is very little direct evidence that Sussman lied and that he wasn't hiding his ties to Hillary Clinton which were well known in Washington D.C.. she claimed it was an obvious attempt to come up with one charge before his time as a special counsel ran out.

With that in mind, the former prosecutor speculated that Durham filed his case in such a way that he could throw more fuel on the fire for Trump to use to protest the Russia accusations.

"So why would Durham bother to file charges in a case so rife with issues?"
Durham is using this indictment as a vehicle to disseminate what he has found to the public, so that Trump and his allies can paint a false equivalence between the conduct of the Trump and Clinton campaigns."

The former prosecutor added, "Mueller found that the Trump campaign shared polling data with a Russia intelligence officer, met with Russians to obtain dirt on Clinton, and coordinated messaging around the disclosure of stolen email messages. With this indictment, Trump can now say that it was Clinton who brought information to the FBI about links to Russia in the first place and yet again claim the Mueller investigation was a hoax."

"...so that Trump and his allies can paint a false equivalence between the conduct of the Trump and Clinton campaigns."

And here we are, a thread on that very false equivalence.

I fully expected you to show up trying to deflect.
I already stated that this topic is not aimed at exonerating Trump from anything, and that my intention was to demonstrate the glaring hypocrisy of the two situations, and how Biden is getting a pass. Yet you come right back and further your efforts to remove the focus from Biden with more of your Trump Derangement Syndrome.

The articles you posted are still touting the Alfa bank connection like it has merit when in fact was a nothing burger, and Sussman knew this prior to approaching the FBI.
The purported links between these two servers, the indictment provides some additional new information as far as I can see on what happened there. So allegedly, it was DNS lookups between Russian Bank-1 and an email domain mailone.trumpemail.com. And these pings happened in May of 2016 to July of 2016. And there's been a lot of innuendo and speculation about what that could have been. And the indictment says, this is really interesting, it says that the FBI investigation revealed the email server at issue was not owned or operated by the Trump Organization, but rather had been administered by a mass marketing email company that sent advertisements for Trump Hotels and hundreds of other clients.
And notable and important, the indictment points out that all the way back in the summer of 2016 as this tech executive and his employees were working on this they seem to understand it was the end of the story. The tech executive himself at one point notes that this particular pang between these two servers appears to be a red herring. Various of his employees, and the indictment quotes their emails, says that they have real problem here, that this isn't very credible. But they nonetheless massage it into information that they hand off to Sussmann who himself then puts it into this series of white papers which he delivers to the FBI.
So if your'e claiming that the FBI knew Sussman was working for the Clinton Campaign, that's only further evidence that they were either incompetent or complicit in their handling of the case. The FISA problems also brought attention to this, as the FBI failed to claim the campaign connection to the court. You just dismantled their claim that they were unaware of any campaign ties.
Sussman even billed the campaign for his time while he was at the FBI submitting his white papers.
the context there is that if you are sitting in an FBI office and somebody comes to you and says I have this information that suggests that a presidential campaign is colluding with Russia essentially through this complicated internet data server pings, it would be useful for the FBI to know whether the person bringing that information is doing so completely unaffiliated to anything else or is really on the payroll of the other campaign.
Well, you especially want to know the latter because it gives you a different incentive, right? And that's, I think, what this is all about. As Kim said, Mr. Sussmann was acting for the campaign. I believe the indictment says that he billed the campaign for his meetings with the FBI. You know, his defense now is that he was just representing this tech executive who supposedly found this traffic. But it's also interesting, the tech executive is supposedly in an email saying that he was counting on the top cybersecurity job in a Clinton administration.

It is misleading to say that the Trump campaign gave polling data to Russia without adding some context.
Mueller's team said in its report that Kilimnik was believed to “have ties to Russian intelligence,” and that Kilimnik had received the Trump campaign information from Manafort, but did not say what he did with it after receiving it.

A bipartisan report by the Senate Intelligence Committee in 2020 said coordination between the Trump campaign and a Russian operation to hack and leak Democratic emails may have existed through Kilimnik but could not be established with certainty. The report drew no conclusions about what the Russians ultimately did with the data.

The officials did not disclose when or how the U.S. came into possession of the new intelligence about Kilimnik, including whether or not the information was developed during the Trump or Biden administrations. The officials did not identify the source or type of intelligence that had been developed.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Treasury declined to comment.

Considering Kilimnik was only recently labeled as a Russian Spy, Manafort may have been unaware of his nefarious Russian ties. Trump only used Manafort for six months so proving he even had knowledge of the exchange is skeptical, especially if Trump is as big an idiot as you claim, with the bleach tweet.
Trump said a lot of stupid shit, you'll get no argument from me on that.

Calling attention to Biden sins does not exonerate Trump.
Hypocrisy much?

Now, on Durham.
As a prosecutor his reputation is stellar with 119 convictions in 6 years in Connecticut. I seriously doubt that he would put forth a flimsy indictment and risk tarnishing his career just to get a pat on the back from Trump.

Here's an audio link the sited WSJ article. well worth a listen for a more comprehensive examination of the indictment, than alternet published.

Biden is lucky to have Psaki, she is very good at her job.
She spins, deflects and projects with the utmost proficiency.
