a little bit about clones.
clone early and often. is better to cull clones.
i have never reveged a plant. always took clones early.
so if you have extra clones you can plant the best ones.
that way you never have to plant a runt.
also never to wait months on a revege plant to grow
to be able to take clones. also a plant changes it's DNA
a little when it starts to bloom. so clones from it will
be just a little bit different than from a pre bloom plant.

speaking of runts most are not growing roots well.
so in soil what you want to do is. let the clone get really
dry in it's pot.then water from bottom and let dry again.
by then it should have better root system and grow proper.

to add to last post. when runt is dry you can
give a mild dose of bloom ferts and super thrive.
or just water. you just want it to get dry a few times.
but do water from the bottom. we want roots down there.

water and ferts
i have a 30 gal trash can i fill to get water
for plants. that way it is room temp. plants
do not like cold water from the tap. then i use
a 4 gal square bucket to mix ferts in. is a nice
size and you can pour from a corner of the bucket.
i use salts for ferts but this for all ferts. try to mix
up your ferts the day before you are going to use
them. 24 hours for true diffusion of ferts into water.
if you need them now. this is *salts mix into a jar of
hot water and mix then add to bucket. it will have
dissolved better in the hot water. plants love rain
water. so if you can use some. guess that is about it.

Thanks for the cool thread Lruss ~

I already learnt like 2 new things.

As for runt plants.. I tried letting them dry up before.
Sometimes they will go, sometimes they stay small

keeping track of seeds and plants.
when i use cups i number them. then to keep track
of numbers. i put strain name on a index card.
so like now #2 is a11 #3 is columbo ect.
then you can reuse cups for clones or more seeds.
then put number on a plant marker when you transplant.
now say you are sprouting a few seeds of different strains.
you can do 1a 1b 1c ect. but make the letters small. if you
want to cover the letters later. also number on 4 sides of the
cup. makes seeing what's what with out moving plants around.
for poking holes in a cup. a ice pick works nicely 4 pokes on bottom.
guess thats about it. hey oldjoints if you read this could you maybe
explain how to do a plant log ? i think that is a good idea for new
growers thanks.

Cool numbering.

I've got some:

Poking holes through cups is easier than most people would think.

You don't need heat or even a sharp object because the way the plastic is moulded at the bottom.
You can simply use a Phillips Head screw driver and poke it through very easily.

As far as plant logs go - Lots of new growers are using technology these days.
A few apps I've been reccomending to new growers who don't want to spend a while drawing lines or writing info.

If you're not using any apps. Then Excel is also another very introductory way to type out a lot of information in an organized manner.

Just keep it on a seperate drive ~

P.S. I like them but that's because I am me. These tips would be more helpful to others if there were pics.
It's hard to read through lots of text I feel like people won't bother

Sure, no problem. But it’s early in the morning here and I have been meaning to re-do the log I have now to better accommodate what I have going. I will do this once my roomie is awake later today.

I make these logs solely for my own use so I’m sorry if they don’t meet your particular needs.
The last log sheet was lacking in a few aspects so I tried to improve this on the new one. Now that I have picked up another person to caretake for I am able to have 24 plants in veg and 24 in flower. On my first sheet I didn’t give myself enough room to log enough plant numbers. I also included a box for when I switch from veg to flower.
Having the plant number and date first on the sheet makes it a lot easier to see what is going on at a glance and the daily chores listed after that on the log sheet. After each chore just make an X in the proper box.
On each plant I have the strain and a plant number listed on tape so after each grow I can remove the tape in preparation for the next grow.
The rest should be obvious with the picture:

The best advice I give new growers is this:

Keep It Simple Stupid

Get to know the plant itself, don’t try advanced methods until you learn the basics of what the plant needs for a successful grow.
