After enjoying the fruits of your labors, we all need a place to chill. This is that place. Totally senseless irrelevant banter encouraged.

"Potatoes potato"...

The "Scientist" says as IF accurate language is no longer important...

Dude, that's just straight up sad.

You can't admit you misspoke because it's WHAB that respectfully pointed your linguistic inaccuracy out.

That's an illness.

Sad, bro!

The Chinese will map the red planet a few months before sanding down their Rover. But..

wont be long now, till...

Be there or be square
NASA is inviting the public to take part in virtual activities and events as the agency’s Mars 2020 Perseverance rover nears entry, descent, and landing on the Red Planet, with touchdown scheduled for approximately 3:55 p.m. EST Thursday, Feb. 18.

Live coverage and landing commentary from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California will begin at 2:15 p.m. on the NASA TV Public Channel and the agency’s website, as well as the NASA App, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitch, Daily Motion, and THETA.TV.

Among the many firsts with this mission is the agency’s first-ever Spanish-language show for a planetary landing. On Thursday, Feb. 18, at 2:30 p.m., NASA will air “Juntos perseveramos,” a show that will give viewers an overview of the mission to Mars and highlight the role Hispanic NASA professionals have had in its success.

Btw, I once worked at JPL. True story....

Installing a cookline exhaust system :winky:

It is a true story regardless my work there...

***I did apply for work there once. I thought for sure my ordnance experience would at least get me an interview. It didn't, unfortunately...***

one of the crew at the crags been at jpl forever
hes the gravity waves guy on a future mission to one of the Lagrange points

back when curiosity hit orbit i asked him
"couldnt you have developed a more complicated way to land?!!?"

he laughed
explained the ropes were static lines, so
ONE less variable almost cornered

a couple years laters
found a pic of top of the rover

with wiring harnesses snaking all over
lots of hold downs

and i realized

how extensive the testing must have been regarding those cables and chaffing

how a team must have been tasked with choosing those holddowns
and precisely where to put each one

fuck

and they did it again...

I envy your friend and your friendship with your friend! Great story!

It's truly incredible the lengths they go through to destroy something on the ground so it survives out there
Perseverance Dangling 0001 02202021.jpg
Incredible!

Even more incredible is Ingenuity has to operate in 1/3 Earth's atmosphere. Making it 3x's harder to even lift off.

Infinitely Incredible!

I'm very excited about this one, and it won't be about wondering what Intellectual Properties China stole from the United States for Tianwen-1 or will steal for their future stolen properties missions.

There! I found a name for China's unnamed Rover that's parked for at least a month (I think I read it was 2 months) as it stares down at the amazing work being done by America and her allies! - Stolen Properties - Mission Rover. :roflmao:

Check out this guy's intro. Starting at 0:20 in and lasting about 20 seconds.

IF Clarence "Kelly" Johnson had a son - he didn't - it would be Mike Patey (my modern day engineering/aviation hero).

Peace, Ben ,
