Gimme the Good Earth III
Clouds started to settle early, the word on the trail was clear tomorrow. Perfect, no need to rush do Clouds Rest tomorrow and catch the views!!
I was dreaming the coals, reflecting on the trip, life, women, the universe 'n everything As promised blue skies in the mourning and Clouds Rest. Views on the hike up. Yosemite as far as the eye can see. It doesn't quite live up to the hype.
Cathedral Peak. Mt Hoffman and Toulomne Peak on the left. Tenaya Lake in the middle. The 'trail' to the top. Just follow the rock up as it narrows, no where else to go. How Cool is that!!
made camp with time to gather wood.
Yet another campfire, third and last. a real good one.I was dreaming the coals, reflecting on the trip, life, women, the universe 'n everything As promised blue skies in the mourning and Clouds Rest. Views on the hike up. Yosemite as far as the eye can see. It doesn't quite live up to the hype.

A young couple coming up behind me. Day hiking in from the Tenaya trailhead
Yosemite Valley and lokking down on iconic Half Dome Mount Watkins and it's infamous pinnacles, lower left. North and two more day hikers coming up the 'trail'
View from the 'trail', Yosemite Valley. What an awesome route.
The couple topping off on the knife edge. Whatta cool trail!

Pure Joy. Handstand on Clouds Rest.
The young couple hiked up to take their baby announcement picture. It just keeps getting cooler.
Looking down on Half Dome and the Valley
Cathedral and Matthes Crest
Panorama with matthes Crest in center right.
Take a walk on the wild side. Jes a short quarter mile to the Valley floor.
Or take the long way home …

on the west side of half dome
that hike downs called the 'death slabs'
no idea about that side further up canyon your looking at
id supposed there are a couple or three of decent decents but
good luck finding and staying on one from the top
without a guide
btw,
that canyon down from tuwholame to your right again
is renouned to be one of the easiest of the super coolest canyoneering decents in the whole range...

the intolerance of the old order is emerging from the rosy mist in which it has hitherto been obscured.

Canyon to your right... you mean Tenaya Canyon. Yeah I've often looked at that on the map and looking down with the unique perspective from Watkins
So they're is way down the falls can't remember their name. But rope is needed?

These latest photos are as amazing as all the rest. You've gone to beautiful places and taken some striking images of them.

I was assuming there was
im not really the Yosemite guy
I was supposing there must be a way to get down without a rope
but come to think about it
if there was
the climbers would have been talking about it for years
which hasn't happened
we all do the hike
exhausted I know but
if there was a way down 3rd class ida heard about it
so
pay no mind to my wistful proposing
aint no sane way down that side
that's for sure...

Fat squirrel mooching from the edge.
Looking back, the endless stairs up.
Down to the end of the endless stairs for me,
Vernal falls, it is October 12 and merced river is low. Does make a nice view of the rock.
Yup too many Falls pics, suffer.

On the paved tourist trail only a couple of miles left. All over now expect for the shouting. into the forest .. Maple canopy Down to Yosemite Valley floor. Checked out the action at El Cap. Climbers on El Cap, forget the name of the route. Looks like their second day on the rock. Onto hot shower, beer, pizza … Spent the night in one of the bandit climber's camps, had it to myself, much of that crowd migrated down to warmer Joshua Tree NP. Got up early to catch sunrise on Valley floor.
Half Dome, The classic view. First light, Merced River.
