White granite contrasting with the dark jagged basalt flow. Beautiful granite gorges on the East Fork Carson River. Granite Whitecliff Peak. More transition boundary between the red volcanic and the white Sierra granite.

very cool, nature is amazing. if we take the time to take it in.
My therapist says I am a habitual liar and an attention seeker, therefore nothing I say/write is true and under no circumstances should I be believed nor held accountable for anything I say. all photo's are paintings
People are born with the instinct to fight against their own death, to struggle with their last breath against even the most unavoidable and uncompromising ends.

Yep, as John Muir said: Of all the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are dirt.

Mourning climb up to Sonora Peak Pass.
Willows and autumn gold colors, jes gorgeous. Puts that spring in one's step. Looking North back down the Carson River with Dick's Peak and Tahoe fading away. Loving the trail in the Granite. Looking east into Nevada. Half way up and passed timberline, been awhile, and the geology turned back to volcanic.

With gushing cold springs right next to the trail.
I'm purty high at 10500. Last time I was this high ,double entendre intended, was at 10000 feet on Lassen peak and that was ages ago. But Matterhorn peak out there is at 12000 plus feet. And bigger ones past her.
The High Sierras! Yay Baby! Then onward down an even more beautiful trail.
Nearing the top
The top looking north.
I day hiked a little higher up on Sonora peak for a better view and ..I'm purty high at 10500. Last time I was this high ,double entendre intended, was at 10000 feet on Lassen peak and that was ages ago. But Matterhorn peak out there is at 12000 plus feet. And bigger ones past her.

Why is Earth so biologically diverse? Mountains hold the answer
September 12, 2019
University of Copenhagen
Summary:
Life on Earth is amazingly diverse, and exhibits striking geographical global patterns in biodiversity. A pair of companion papers reveal that mountain regions -- especially those in the tropics -- are hotspots of extraordinary and baffling richness. Although mountain regions cover only 25 percent of Earth's land area, they are home to more than 85 percent of the world's species of amphibians, birds, and mammals, and many of these are found only in mountains.

The awesome trail down. Passing several inviting springs Followed one of 'em cross-county down to a secluded virgin camp and watched the evening show again.

Early in the mourning I hit Highway 108.
My Last resupply till end at Yosemite Valley. Sharing coffee and some rather tall tales out in the back with one of the wranglers.
Got offered to stay the night in the bunkhouse for free but opt to just crash off in the forest under the stars, much better. Next day followed the Middle Fork Stanislaus River back into the Wilderness.
Even though it was pumping pavement for 12 miles, not my favorite, the views made it all well worth it.
Eventually into Kennedy Meadow Resort/Ranch, where I got a loooong hot shower laundry, supplies, beer, burger, a prime rib dinner and new earbuds for the ipod, My Last resupply till end at Yosemite Valley. Sharing coffee and some rather tall tales out in the back with one of the wranglers.
