Greetings and welcome! :gadday:
That sounds interesting, but I noticed the Google search sidebar shows some pretty expensive equipment for that, a $10,000 scraper, $30-40k contraptions, and one that looks like a jet engine for $120k used, what's up with that?
but you're off to a good start here
so just fair warning, don't let me bait you into spamming, which seems to be a common trap for new members lately,
just fyi

My latest contraption extracted 10% by volume for about 100.00 plus my time. Can you compete with that jimmy?

hey jimmy!

curious about the process

given distalation is age old and so well achieved by traditional means, whats do you see the point of moving to the thin film method?

Haha, I can do much better. My small set up usually give me 4kg of 80% THC/CBD each day.

Hey, yep, distillation has been use for all kind of thing in history.
But right now the popular method used in Cannabis industry is so call "Wipe Film Molecular Distillation". Which is far more advance than normal distillation.
Molecular distillation is done under high vacuum. During high vacuum, you can get your target material easier, and prevent your material from over heat or burn.
The wiping film can largely increase the speed of process. In a set up that I have done in Oakland, CA, that wipe film can process 7kg of crude oil each hour.

I looked into it

figure you were up to several vacuum rotarys and decided to move to a thin film evaporator?

Yep, thin film is way faster than rotary evaporator. I have run a rotary vap before and run out of patient.
