Yeah, i tried ona once when first starting out. It was limited success. Not enough to hide the sweet canna stank when in full bloom.
I seem to remember it kinda had a smell of its own.

everything was going really well till i potted them in bigger pots now they look like shit, this is the first time this has happened to me.. albeit the roots have poked out from the drainage holes within 4 days of replanting, but the leaves are not healthy, is it a cal mag issue or a nitrogen issue???
i used shop bought compost ,

When you say "compost", do you mean potting mix or actual compost? If pure compost, you need to repot into a proper potting mix or soil.
Read this: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/garden ... ompost.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Compost is not fertiliser and it's not a replacement for soil, as it may or may not contain any or all of the essential macro and micro nutrients.
At face value, those plants look like they are starving and need a good dose of NPK fertiliser like fish emulsion or similar. However, you have to rule out nutrient lock-out first, including possible salinity, due to hot spots or excess salts in the compost.
If they're already in good soil, then the main issue with repotting is it's common to overwater the plants until the roots have filled out the pots. The small root ball becomes entombed in wet soil - depending on the size of the new pot - and suffocates. Red stems and droopy yellow leaves can be a sign of moisture stress, so if that's what you suspect, then let your pots dry out and water sparingly until the roots fill out.
But I suspect it's a nutrient issue as mentioned above.

Well, there's compost and there's "compost" - which could be pretty much anything. If it's a mix you've used in the past - notwithstanding you've already got the moisture problem sorted - then obviously the "compost" isn't the culprit

I just did a search and it says that stuff is around 65-75% peat, so pretty close to a soilless mix. I don't know what sort of nutrient is in it, but you could try a light feed once the pots have dried out a bit. If it's a nutrient deficiency, it will clear up pretty quick with a light dose of NPK. Maybe check the pH of your run-off, too, as peat can be pretty acidic.
