Peat pots for seedlings?
Hello everyone, first time grower here so forgive my ignorance, but i recently purchased a grow tent and obtained my medical card and thought i'd try out growing. Once the tap root pops out of the seed and grows a bit, should i throw directly into a pot, or is it ok to let them grow in a peat pot for a week or two? Just asking for some opinions, considering the two grow books i got say absolutely nothing about peat pots, they only talk about the pellets :/ and when transplanting, should i try to cut out as much of the peat as i can or just throw the whole thing in? ANY help you could give a beginner grower would be extremely helpful

It's ok to let grow in the peat pot for a week or two, really doesn't matter much either way.
No need to cut out the peat pot.

Peat pots for seedlings?
Ok cool thank you, i was checking out my seedlings and i noticed the taproot is starting to grow through the little hole in the bottom of the peat pot. Do you think i should transfer it to a different container?

should be ok until quite a few root's are showing.
transplant it when you have the time.
water the peat pot from bottom so seedling does not dampen off.
also if it is a peat pot with the little netting remove some of it
before transplant. one more thing good luck

Peat pots for seedlings?
set into a little tray.
can be a plastic lid of some sort.
then water from the tray.
when i grow i like to use trays also. then i water
mostly from bottom. less chance to over water that way.
i do water from top at transplant and if a pot is really light
i water top and bottom.
then here is some good advice for down the line.
when you transplant and water plant in. lift the pot
and remember how heavy it feels. then lift pot every day
and do not water till it feels somewhat light. that will keep you from
over watering. i lift every pot every night. if light i water that
plant. if heavy will check next day while lifting all again.
good luck and ask away as your going along. i am glad to help.

Cool thank you so much, very good tips. I'm surprised the taproot already hit the bottom of the pot, It's only been in there for about 2-3 days

The watering by the weight of the container tip is gold. There's really no better way to determine how much moisture is in the soil.

Peat pots for seedlings?
Great tips everyone, highly appreciated!! Has anybody ever tried the solo cup method to get them started? I'm wondering if i should try those out next time instead of the peat pots, ive done research on them the past few days and i guess they can cause a lot of issues
