It all starts from a seed
anyone ever had much luck simple bending the top over and down as far as it will?
Yep, just keep pulling the top down a little at a time, can do it about every 6 hours, maybe add another string as it quickly grows. Early in the game when it was fun and new, I marveled at how malleable cannabis is and went overboard, sting got to be a big expense. Fun tho. I got pics somewhere …
Now it’s a chore, something to put off.

Week 07
Out of 19 plants:
10 females
9 males
All the females in front and males in the back.
Notice in the front, right hand side is a six-pack with 5 seedlings. They were a last minute planting of xtra seeds. No plans. Anyway all 5 of ‘em are females … hmmmm I wonder if the tight six-pack gave the great female ratio? Curious .
Temps staying nicely around 70F

After the above pics was taken, I transplanted 7 females into their larger pots. I’ll keep a couple of males around, four already went into the compost pile (deer food, they good at destroying evidence quickly). The other 3 females will stay in the one gallon pots till I figure where to put ‘em (balcony, greenhouse , in the hills …??). the six-pack jes dunno??
Going from veg pot to flower pot. Good root structure, I’m happy. Afterwards: 7 transplanted, 3 other females in small pots. 2 bushy males in the back right side and the six-pak stuck in there.

I'm surprised you're only running T8 lights but you have 14. They certainly look healthy! Wish I could take in your extra females! Just getting my growroom ready now that my pacemaker has given me enough strength to run it well. Gonna drive up 80 miles to get rooted cuts of The White, Chem D, and Bubba as soon as my Jan check comes in. Hope mine run as well as yours. I'm enjoying your grow, my friend! Thanks!

Thanks again Earl, yeah I like growing with the fluoro tubes since I’m growing under a flat plane of light, opposed to a point source(s). I’d think my technique would be well suited for (when) switching to LEDs.
Sorry to hear ya have a pacemaker, ouch. But I hope to see yer clones work out, 80 miles to get ‘em tho …
Yanno I never grown clones Anyone remember the round-about with guano, uncle ben, I and others about clones and taproots? UB was sure clones had taproots,

Tuesday I started the training. First water ‘em a couple hours ahead, less brittle that way. One string around the base to hold the plant firmly from the opposing force of bending. Not really seen in the pics. The rubber band makes this easy.
Bueno. Pull the top down as far as it’ll comfortably go. This is low stress. The idea is to get the main top down lower then the branch’s top to distribute the apical dominance more equitable. Yanno socialism. I didn’t get the top that low the first time, don’t worry, later we will. till they are all tied down

Next mourning we see the plants have all turned back up and grown a bit.
I got a room full of tied up girls, all Mitt had was a folder-of-women.
Add another string and pull the new top down again, also pull the first down a little more too.
Now the branches are near vertical and none broke. The apical dominance is no longer solely in the main top, the plant will give more resources to the physically taller branches, they too might need to be tied down so one or two wont gain dominance. Next mourning we see the desired result. A bunch of side branches all shooting up.. a short bushy plant.
Now the main top is turning and growing back up, but it is now lower then the branche's tops. It is likely only one more string might be need to keep the main top down and the canopy even. Sorta a SROG without the screen. The top can be trained to grow all the around the circumference of the pot this way, sending more branches out.
A sea of bright green young branches. Yay baby!
