3 d printing is amazing, imagine what you can do with it, now you can use nylon, rubber, engineering plastic to make your 3d moulds with moving parts ...... a bit like the replicator on start trek, anyone have any thoughts on this !!!!?

Check it out.. there is a movement that is 'giving' these away. I think the idea is that the machine makes it's self and when you get one you sign on to make 10 or so machines and give them away and so on.

The future might be something like when you need something you make it.. This removes all the cost of shipping, stocking, the gas and time to go get it.

i think its just amazing piece of kit, i understand they can replicate anything in plastic, nylon etc.... but they cant replicate the electronics and metal motors for now !!! no more tooling required or the expense and time consumption of looking for a company that will make a one off mould for you,

yep, Star Trek strikes again.
i saw that a few months back,
and was thinking if i could get my hands one one,
i'd use it as a little factory to generate simple products to sell online.

Legion, that loaner program sounds quite interesting,
but the description i saw there requires gathering
about $500 worth of non-replicable electronics and such,
before getting a loaner set to complete the unit.

last year one of these outfits got some add space
they were proudly announcing they had one of these machines

which could create another of itself
via its process

wow man

they can use nylon too, imagine clothes designers they can make a 3d image of a models body and never have to sew or stitch any clothing ever again, it would fit perfectly..

Seen that on Jay Leno's Garage...he's got one. They repair old shit they can't git parts for, so this machine helps 'em make their own.

makes you think when you are stoned.....

what will happen in the near future with this replicating machine, so they have metal/nylon/rubber filaments in the" ink head" they may have "ceramic/clay filaments" in the future, so whats stopping me from replicating a 16th century Chinese tea set worth millions, the 3-d printer will replicate the odd crack or blemish on the tea set too !!? and you cant carbon date rocks/stones can ya !!?? LOL
