ive found that understanding the topo elevation lines describing terrain far more helpful than a compass but
ive never done much hiking out in the flats...

yep with a topo map and locating landmark great, agreed that's the best; but if you're in the trees, rain, fog.. or the maps jes not agreeing with what you see, it happens. Good old compass

have you noticed our declination changing over the decades?

the maps always said, but, they were last revived in the 50's more often than not...


least the ones i got,
all purchases in the 80's
the intolerance of the old order is emerging from the rosy mist in which it has hitherto been obscured.
