It was pointed out that they are a thing of the past...unless some nutjob like Kim Jong-Un went off the rails.
Technology has passed that point. It is cheaper and easier to deploy a C10 with a half million single use drones equipped with facial recognition and a shotgun shell. Target military age males...less destruction...no radiation...entirely automated. And is far easier for countries to obtain, than materials for warheads.
Similar to that clip, but instead of exploding, they fly up and shoot you point blank in the head.

i believe a shaped charge at point blank that would do the trick would be a quarter the size of a shotgun shell

the lighter the smaller and thus more drone that can be deployed at any given time

the account for only a percentage of our threat as many of these asteroids are not seen until theyre hours aways or even after they have passed

a grave threat you think a civilization would be moving to address with more than just a subset of nasa funding...

we need more than just minor demonstration projects
we need to do two things

first is to land and insall rockets on asteroids in order to alter their trajectory
an uneasy prospect as many asteroids are weak congolmerates
meaning its hard to get a grip on them as a foundation would be hard to have

the second is the ones we see hours away

on idea how that can be addressed
