Those soles were part of the reason i gave up the cross country in Yosemite, and went down Matterhorn canyon trail instead.rSin wrote:sweet pair of shoes!

I picked up a tube of Shoe Goo at Beldon town, 40 days out. it fixed the top part unraveling, and slowed down the soles. Ya can see some still on the bottom near the arch.
but the wear n tear is less indicative of hard hiking then defective boots. Keen boots, same model i used on my previous hike in the high sierras, which are still usable and I had no problems with, so i wanted to start this longer trip with a new pair.
After i got back i looked through the reviews for keens bought that year and every single one where the user walked more then 100 continues miles talked about the soles falling apart. Defected batch? anyways not so keen on buying Keens again for my next hike.

One of the best threads I've ever followed along with.
Only occasionally do I see threads of exceptional quality content, and this has definitely been one of them.

Well hopefully it won't be an adventure, just a mellow hike.
Any suggestions?
Actually I do have a tentative route.
Starting just north of Mount Shasta on the PCT. Leave the PCT at the California border Going East through Oregon Caves NP, through the kalmiopsis wilderness, reach the Oregon coast. Finish up walking north along the Oregon coastline to the Columbia River.
