the little stone attachments were the ones that got rid of all the muck, but they get worn out really quick, i had an assortment of them and ended up using most of them.....

now i have plenty of time on my hands. gonna get back to finishing this off, the head has rust on it again so ill have to start the process again.... pics soon

there is a technique called 'sooting' that can be useful in mating handles to metal heads
as you start shaving away at the handle and its starting to fit partway into the tool head
when you pull it out it takes a good eye to judge where to shave away more wood next

you can coat the inside surface of the tools handle hole
then when you tap it down and pull it out
soot will be deeply inbedded where you need to shave away more wood

makes it more obvious

never tried it myself
seems troublesome and dirty but
might prove helpful

i still have it now summers coming up I am going to finish this off, gonna buy the handle from ebay though,

some of my fave channels on YT are tool/gun restoration channels, I love the skill of the person restoring something that's rusted away for decades and just bringing them back to life....

there's a Korean guy who restores rusted motorcycles back to pristine condition, even making some stuff himself on his lathe...
