About 70% of walnuts hit the ground without the husk and the ones that still have them, they are split and come right off.

Olives needed to be water cured and then sit in brine for months.

farming is so complicated
you gotta pour threw your trees/fields often
picking what great
right then
for this or that buyer

so
id have thought
you don't want your walnuts to ever hit the ground

does a trees produce all go off within a day?
the intolerance of the old order is emerging from the rosy mist in which it has hitherto been obscured.

A coyote would be all over the melon. Even a fox.

Every little town in Tuscany has (or had) a communal olive press or frantoio, a big, expensive thing you could bring your crop into, press it, and take the oil away. You can use it raw the same day you press it. Wonderful.

My walnut tree is full, i let 'em fall to ground, letting the husks rot/loosen up, then collected the nuts.. after the Grey squirrels get their tithe.

for some reason last 2 years i have lost a lot of calla lilies.
2 years ago clover took over flower bin. killed over 1/2 of them.
then this year we had a odd summer none bloomed. another 1/2
of them died. i have to dig them every year they can not freeze.
so my bin is 14' x 3' i cut a board and put into middle. so now 2
7' x 3' bin's. will only use 1/2 the bin to plant callas now.
yesterday i dug up tulips that i had in 2 other containers.
2 weeks ago i ordered some iris bulbs. today i planted 50 iris bulbs
and over 110 tulip bulbs in 1/2 of the bin. over 110 cuz i did not
count the little ones. there is 25 iris on each end and tulips in the
middle. planted today took photo before i covered the bulbs up.
will not need to dig them up for 3-4 years to split. unlike the calla
lilies that i have to do every year. should look good in spring.
