thanks sockme.. usually we can sow or plant outdoors in mid to late may. mid may in some areas and late may in other areas of UK, so around 4 month window, longer if its warm in autumn.. the tomatoes have never ripened outdoors in the last few seasons, i have to take them off the vine when they are green and put them in a darkened cupboard for a few days and then they turn red... i dont have a greenhouse or a cold frame, so i have start off everything indoors especially mj seeds, maybe around 4 to 6 weeks before mid may... i am ok with radish, lettuce salad leafs etc.. coz they like cold conditions but everything else has to be started early........

Planted 48 leeks seeds yesterday, Giant Musselburgh and American Flag varieties, both local grown heirlooms so they ought to do good.

I use cow. but it's cheap and readily available. Horse I'm under the impression is better, listening to the rose growers.
