CO2 Extraction
yes,
i knew that,
i have a picture in my head of the combustion temperatures of physical items...
somehow
id thought that gases would have combustion temperatures lower than solid materials
given what low temperatures at which these liquids become volitle
i just learn this isnt correct

oh and btw,
i just learned that co2 is available in food grade.
probably what you should be using?
thought the co2 would be cheap...
whould havve known better

CO2 Extraction
I think I may have figured out a method to do this much cheaper.
As long as recovery of the co2 is not a priority.
If you can find a co2 tank with a regulator threaded into the tank rather than welded, you simply remove the regulator and fill the tank half full with glass wool or lava rock or some other inert material.
Then you add your plant material and replace the regulator. Then you add co2 to the desired level, a little more than half full.
Then you invert the tank so that the plant material is immersed in the liquid co2 and agitate for about 15 minutes.
Then you place the tank upright and open the valve and release the co2.
Once empty of gas you remove the regulator and the plant material and then remove the glass wool which should now be coated with resin.
Place the glass wool in alcohol until the resin is totally disolved and then cook the solution down until you are left with pure extract.
I think it should work and would appreciate it if you could run my idea by the pro's to see what they think Bob

and here is a very convincing response...
basically, after reading butanes msds, hes convinced its not at all harmful or toxic AND that there is a TON of improperly purged BHO out there these days...

Ran it by 'em, quoted yer post in entirety...first response...Dick Fein wrote:...if you could run my idea by the pro's to see what they think Bob
...will update with any new posts that come in.Graywolf wrote:There was a guy on several other forums that was experimenting with removing the valve from a a CO2 tank and filling it with plant material and dry ice, before replacing the valve and heating the tank to super critical pressures. He then inverted the tank and blew the liquid out of the tank into another container, which the oil condensed in. He got banned from multiple forums for spamming, and I haven't heard from him in awhile.Butcher Bob wrote:This discussion has cropped up somewhere else, and a question has bin posed...
I git the general feelin it wouldn't work as envisioned, but I don't know enough to answer properly...lil help?
The technique produced oil, but it is unknown what the quality was compared to our own BHO. I am convinced that it is every bit that easy to achieve SCFE pressures and temperatures, but the trait that sets SCFE above the rest, is its selectivity. Running the material through the entire temperature and pressure curve, would not be a selective extraction and so a process would have to be developed, which produced the desired end product.
I did an analysis once...tried to show an accumulation of impurities from butane in a years worth of dabbin. It din't exist...that shit's pure, pure, pure. Lightin a day's worth of cigarettes with a butane lighter, is far more unhealthy than a years worth of dabbin.bentech wrote:and here is a very convincing response...

but the butane you get from using a lighter has combusted and at that temperature,
has consumed alot of the contaminants in it...
not true of butane used in this fashion.
im with that one guy in realizing that all those threads and valves and hookups and machines that put the lids on use all manner of lubricants and no matter thats its trace. its still in there. not to mention butane, even 5x and 7x, is a blended glass if your not buying n.
nbutane,
medical grade
[ probably shouldnt give an stoners the idea there is something worthwild in putting dry ice in a closed container... might wake a few of em up enough to do something stupid ]

For the record, I have never been banned for spamming, though I have been banned for trolling and this is just one of those funny little coincidences that points to the possibilty of a God with a sense of humor.

Not true, much of the butane remains unburied....as with any combustion process.bentech wrote:but the butane you get from using a lighter has combusted and at that temperature,
